, -- . _'?
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION
HELD AT OLD TOWN HALL
DECEMBER 7, 2005
MINUTES
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairman Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm
PRESENT: Chairman R. Garland, Members; B. Brown, G. Yustick, F. Curry B.
Martindale and D. Frazier.
ABSENT: Members; D. Wahl
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES
R. Garland moved to approve the Cultural Activities Commission minutes dated
November 2, 2005, as written. G. Yustick seconded the motion which was
unanimously approved.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
• Discussion of outcome of the winter Play by Dover Players
Mrs. Martindale reviewed that the play went very well and there were many viewers at
each performance.
Mr. Garland reviewed that for December activities in Old Town Hall the idea would be to
invite area church groups and other musical groups to come and sing holiday songs. Mrs.
Brown said she spoke to her churches group and they would need to know what dates the
Commission were looking at. Mr. Garland reviewed that most dates in December were
open. The admission to the concert could be food for the food bank. The commission
would have to work fast to invite the church groups to come, as flyers would need to be
sent out or thought was given to asking the local newspapers to put an announcement in
their paper so the commission could find groups who may be interested. Once the
commission knows if there is an interest or not then they could meet with the City Planner
and start booking dates for Old Town Hall.
• Motion needed setting time and dates of Cultural Activities Commission meetings for
2006
Mr. Garland questioned if holding meetings the first Wednesday of the month would
continue to work for everyone. 1VIrs. Brown advised that normally the first Wednesday of
the month is good for her but she is scheduled to work in a play opening in January so she
could not attend January's and possibly February's meeting. Majority of the
commissioners preferred starting at 6:45 pm.
B. Martindale moved to hold Cultural Activities Commission meetings the first
Wednesday of each month with a starting time of 6:45 pm. F. Curry seconded the
motion which was unanimously approved.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
Mrs. Curry reviewed that she attended the Library artwork ceremony and voiced that there
were some very nice pieces displayed and encouraged everyone to visit the Library to see
the work.
