ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Lang, Board Members; P. Barker, M. Davis, B. Lord, D. Rerko, T. <br />Schock and P. Schumann. <br />ABSENT: Board Members; G. Nashar and R. Koeth. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORREC'TION OF MINi1TES: <br />Landmarks minutes dated January 10, 2005 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mr. Schoclc indicated that after reading the minutes, he questioned if landmarks was granted <br />CLG certification could the commission theoretically apply for a Federal Grant to move the <br />Barton Road Church. Mr. Lang believed theoretically they could, but time constraints which <br />are a large factor for any grant approval would be beyond the Barton Church schedule. He said <br />with CLG certification Landmarks would be in a position to apply for grants for a variety of <br />different preservation purposes. Howeve'r, thel grant`process could take up to 1 1/2 to 2 years <br />for final approval. S. Lord moved to approve the January 10, 2005 Landmark minutes as written. M. Davis <br />seconded the motion, which was unanamously approved. <br />III. ItECEP'Y'ION OF VISITORS: <br />Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley <br />Landmark's Site Students; Rob Charvat, Nora Merecicky,;and Ashley Barnett. <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Halleen KIA, 27726 Lorain Road, (WRD 1): <br />Proposal is to request a letter of appropriateness for an addition to the existing showroom and <br />site improvements. Note: Architectural Review Board approved this proposal on 1/19/05. <br />Planning Commission referred this proposal to Landmarks on 1-25-05. The Board of Zoning <br />Appeals Board table amended variances on 2/3/O5. ,, , J, I I <br />Mr. Lang introduced KIA's architect, Mr. Suhayda, the manager of KIA, Mr. Kula and Eric <br />Halleen the owner's son. Mr. Lang updated the commissioner's on pre-submission <br />conferences he attend that the Planning Director held. He advised that the plans being <br />reviewed were the outcome of those meetings the applicant has attended thus far. <br />Applicant's presentation: <br />Mr. Suhayda reviewed that the building had been moved inline with Lorain Road and a <br />continuous landscape bed had been addedjto the front'of the new addition, as well as along the <br />entire length of the property line facing Porter Road. The two existing buildings along Lorain <br />Road would be demolished to house the new showroom. For the most part the windows on the <br />second floor will be residential looking and include parapet trims and stone sills. Most of the <br />second floor will be used for offices, but at the corner of Porter and Lorain Road the showroom <br />window is extended upward into the second floor. The wall lights match those on the existing <br />showroom as well as the medallions which are to be repeated. Mr. Kula reviewed that there
