The nomination to elect Betty Lord as Viee Chairwoman <br />of Landmarks for the 2005 year was unanimously approvecl. <br />Mr. Lang reviewed that the task of the secretary will require the person be in attendance at <br />the maj ority of the meetings and further requires that person to take written notes in case the <br />tape recorder fails. Mr. Schumann thought they assigned the secretarial duty to who ever is <br />Planning Commissions representative. Mr. O'Malley believed that the duty was not <br />specified in the commission's rules of procedures. Mr. Lang thought it was in the charter <br />however the rules of procedures passed in 2004 sate that a secretary is to be appointed. <br />P. Schumann moved to nominate Maryellen Davis as secretary. T. Schock seconded <br />the nomination. Mrs. Davis accepted the nomination provided it is for backup only she <br />does not wish to transcribe minutes. The motion to elect Maryellen Davis as Secretary <br />for the 2005 year was unanimously approved. <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />A. Preservation Magazine Jan/Feb <br />B. Proposed budget request <br />Mr. Lang advised that all the communications received were available to view on the deslc. <br />He reviewed that the Ohio Association Historical Societies & Museums sent an application <br />for renewal. Mrs. Lord thought the flyer was asking for a donation not an application for <br />membership. Mr. Lang reviewed that there has been monies approved for Landmarks for the <br />first three months of 2005 however the final budget will not receive approval until March. <br />VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Mr. Lang asked for committee reports. Mrs. Lord reviewed that Mr. Lang, Mr. Barker and <br />she met to start the process of the CLG grant application. There are still a number of items <br />required. She passed out documents to the board members to review. She is checking to <br />see if the commission can fill out the application on line, then print it out to go into the <br />application paclcet. City ordinances for Landmarks now meet the requirement of the CLG. <br />The 1985 comprehensive inventory which was funded by CLG is being looked at and <br />updated. <br />Mr. Lang explained that the application to become a Certified Local Government (CLG) is <br />recognition from the United States of Interior, through the Ohio Historical Society, <br />recognizing that the City of North Olmsted has made a commitment to local preservation <br />through completing the CLG application and achieving the recognition as being a Certified <br />Local Government. Once the CLG is achieved this would make the City of North Olmsted <br />eligible for federal grants for the continued preservation of historical sites throughout North <br />Olmsted. Without the CLG certification the Landmarks Commission would remain in the <br />position of not being able to help preserve anything. Therefore it is critical for Landmarlcs <br />to complete the process of becoming a Certified Local Government. Mrs. Lord believed that <br />the commission needed to get the inventory list updated through the 1950's for the <br />application packet. <br />Mr. O'Malley advised that unless the reviewers dictate the commissions inventory be <br />updated he would advise the commission to not lead the application with a pledge of going <br />2
