CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />OLD TOWN HALL <br />JULY 12, 2006 <br />MINUTES <br />1. ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: R. Garland, B. Martindale, J. Kepperley, G. Yustick, F. Curry, D. Wahl, and <br />B. Brown. <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Minutes for June 70?, were reviewed and corrected. Mr. Garland moved to approve the <br />minutes, second by Mr. Kepperley, which was unanimously approved. <br />II. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Mrs. Martindale spoke with Jack Boss regarding putting together a Haunted House in <br />Frostville for Halloween time. The plan would take place in Frostville the three <br />weekends preceding Halloween. There are rules in place regarding actors participating in <br />the haunted house and Mrs. Martindale would audition actors to participate. The Olmsted <br />Historical Society would use the opportunity raise funds for Frostville. <br />IiI. OLD BUSINESS• <br />Homecoming: Mrs. Martindale said that to put on a puppet show for 30 minutes will <br />cost $130.00 which will pay for the additional puppeteers. With respect to the submitted <br />brochure, the Commission was comfortable with the basic layout, they did not feel it was <br />necessary to add bios for the Commission members. Chairman Garland said information <br />for fall and winter holidays will be added to the Homecoming brochure. There was <br />discussion regarding the Senior Center Art show and how many participants could be <br />involved. Specifics are still being discussed as to how the show will be displayed. <br />There was further discussion regarding another attempt at a Frostville Art Show August <br />11 and 12, 2007. The commission discussed the cost of participating in an art show, <br />which seems to be about a$100.00 range for two days. They also discussed other <br />payment arrangements for participation, including a one day fee or charging $150.00 to <br />participate and offeri.ng a$50.00 return to the artists should they stay for the duration of <br />the show. The Commission continued the discussion with respect to how other local art <br />shows have been successful or unsuccessful, and the pros and cons of charging a higher <br />entrance fee. <br />V.
