CITY OF NORTH OL1dISTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />HELD AT <br />NORTH OLMSTED HIGH SCHOOL <br />MAY 3, 2006 <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Chairman Gaxland, Beverle Martindale, John Kepperley, Gerald Yustick, <br />Faye Curry, David Wahl <br />ABSENT: Barb Brown <br />IIe REVIEW AlvD COItRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />Minutes for April lOth were reviewed and corrected. Chairman Garland moved to <br />approve the minutes, second b fm1 epperley. <br />?G H IlJ <br />III. NEW BUSINESS: <br />The Commission met at 7:00 pm at the High School so that they could attend the Student <br />art show. Awards were distributed to a variety of students. Mayor, O'Grady addressed <br />the audience and performed the ribbon cutting. <br />The Commission discussed the proposed Christmas in July and Light Up Butternut Ridge <br />events. There was the suggestion of setting up a kiosk along Butternut Ridge selling hot <br />chocolate. Beverle Martindale mentioned an open house she had in the past as well as <br />Christmas caroling. The Commission requested to make sure that the Old Town hall is <br />reserved for Deceinber 26t", 27r", 28tn for their Christmas event. The Christmas event <br />will involve activities for children, snacks, music. etc. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Chairman Garland said seven applicants were not enough to have the art show at <br />Frostville. He spolce about acquiring new lists from other organizations and planning an <br />event for next year. Several mailers came baclc with incorrect addresses. The <br />commission continued to discuss an art show at Frostville for next suinmer. Perhaps with <br />an earlier notice they might be able to have more participants, possibly second weelcend <br />in August 2007. They discussed advertising in newspapers (Sun News) or on artists' web <br />sites or newsletters. Mr. Kepperley mentioned having the high school band down at <br />Frostville, perhaps worlc with Kiwanis to plan a dinner. John Kepperley suggested that <br />Kiwanis could sponsor a pig roast at which the seven artists could participate for free in <br />along with the band. <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />VI.
