There is no audio recording of this meeting due to a problem with the
tape recorder.
1. ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Roy Garland, Barbara Brown, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Gerald Yustick,
Beverle Martindale.
ABSENT: Faye Curry
ItECEPTION OF VISITORS: Chris Glassburn
1ZEVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
Minutes for March lst were reviewed and corrected.
H. NEW BUSINESS:
Mrs. Brown pressed the Commission to increase the promotion of city cultural activities.
This could include a Home Coming tent, pamphlets, etc. A float in the parade might be
possible. The parade is August 27th at 1:30pm. Mrs. Martindale volunteered her 1957 pink
hard top Cadillac. Mr. Wahl and Mrs. Martindale requested the use of Old Town Hall
December 26, 27, 28 for a Christmas family event. A barber shop quartet, puppet show,
M.Yusticlc playing his accordion, a rock group, an art exhibit, a game for kids, etc. would
only be for one night. They would need 3 days to set things up.
Mrs. Martindale inquired as to the cost of an event at Frostville. She knows a director who
wishes to produce Midsummer's Night DYeam outdoors in June/July of 2007. Mr.
Kepperley said Frostville has a$200 fee, plus $50 minimum for Porto Potties. He and Mr.
Glassburn had three other sites for pover Players to consider-Forest School on Hampton
Drive seemed to be the best.
Mrs. Martindale said she would take Mr.Vollcert (the director) on a tour.
III OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Yustick said the artists submissions for the Frostville event (August 12, 13) were
coming in very slowly. Mr. Kepperley believed Kiwanis would back the Commission's
show as long as twenty artists signed up. Mr.Yustick thought that number to small to
attract a crowd.
Mrs. Brown distributed flyers and maps they had created for the Frostville event as well as
letters of rejection and acceptance.
