.' basement and within the walls. With the materials taken from the Stearns home they could
possibly build the framing for the projected schoolhouse at the museum.
The Landmarlcs Commission opposes the proposed burning of the Stearns home for both
philosophical and practical reasons. The value of the historical materials within the home
outweighs the practicality of burning the home. The demolition of the home should be done in
such a way as to properly salvage and preserve historical materials within the framing and body
of the home. The materials should be turned over to the Historical Society so that they can be
used in the process of creating a schoolhouse at the Frostville Museum. The Historical Society is
willing to work with the city to ensure the salvaging of the materials from the home is done in a
timely and professional manor.
M. Davis moved to have the clerk of commissions create a resolution on behalf of the
Landmarks Commission to be presented to Council with the above wording. P. Schumann
seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
Mr. Dubowslci suggested sending the resolution to Councilman Orlowslci through the Clerk of
Council with Mr. Orlowski as the sponsor for Landmarks. The Commission should also ask the
City to allow the Historical Society more time, possibly until the end of April. Mr. Schumann
said that the Mayor had been going out of his way to worlc with the Historical Society in
discussing the possibilities of the home over the past few months. Therefore he would e-mail the
Mayor and call Mr. Limpert to have further discussions.
V.
