• .? .
2. Halleen HIA; 27712 Lorain Road: (WRD # 1)
Proposal consists of leaving basement foundation in place.
The; following variance is requested:
1)..A variance to be allowed to leave the front basement foundation in place to prevent the
sidewalk from collapsing during demolition. Which is in violation of section (1365.01).
Ms. Tindera with the Demolition Company came forward to address the owners' request. Mr.
Engoglia noted that he was familiar with the area and the ground along the Lorain and Porter
Roads which consisted mainly of sand and understood why the applicant was requesting to be
allowed to leave the front section of the basement wall to ensure the area does not collapse.
Ms.'Tindera advised that the front wall of Rebecca's building was only 1-foot off of Lorain
Road and the risk of the sidewalk and possibly as section of street collapsing was quite high.
Leaving the wall would ensure the area is supported. Board members did not object to the
request as long as the entire floor, east, west and north walls were removed and the sewer was
capped off. Furthermore the first 2 courses of cinderblock are to be removed from the front
wall in accordance to the building department's guidance prior to the opening being backfilled.
Ms. Tindera asked if the scaffolding over the sidewalk was still required. Mr. Rymarczyk
advised that the covered walkways would in fact be required to be installed according to the
building codes and the applicant was sent a letter from the Commissioner addressing her
question.
M. Conway moved to approve Halleen HIA of 27712 Lorain Road their request which
consists of leaving basement foundation in place and that the following variance is
granted as amended and agreed upon: 1). A variance to be allowed to leave the front
basement foundation in place to prevent the sidewalk from collapsing during demolition.
The first 2 courses of cinderblock are to be removed from the front wall. Which is in
violation of section (1365.01). D. Sabo seconded the motion, which was unanimously
approved.
VI.
