developers to develop the area. Owners will be contacted when there is a developer at their
door ready to purchase their homes of to discuss purchasing it. The city will continue to move
forward to do their part in protecting the owner's interests and to provide the most and best
options available that they can.
Mr. Malone said the city is moving forward as quickly as they can and he commends the
Planner, the Mayor and everyone else involved for their efforts in creating the plan as it does
create value to the property owners in addition to being the best plan for North Olmsted. Mr.
Mahoney felt that the plan was a well thought out plan and the city is staying on task moving
forward in a proactive movement to address both those who want to stay and those who what to
leave. The plan will go to Council for final approval and then become a tool for developers to
meet the goals of the city for the area. He likes option 2 of the plan as it pertains to the Lorain
and Stearns road intersection. Mr. Rerko liked option 1 better as the setback is greater at the
intersection and the openness will soften the intersection. Mr. Lasko felt both options should
remain part of the plan to ensure the best alternatives are available. There should only be sterile
flowering trees for maintenance purposes. Mr. Malone said that the corridor should look more
like a parkway than a highway wall. From an aesthetic point of view he would encourage using
flowering sterile trees along the corridor.
J:'I:asko moved to adopt the City off North Olmsted Crockep Stearns Corridor Study as
prepared by the Urban Design Center received July 11, 2007 with the clarifcation that
s:t;erile flower trees be used. The findings of the Planning & Design Commission are that
tlie `study as formulated and presented and discussed adequately, fairly and completely
ref1ects the input of the various study groups and community sessions of the study and in
accordance with the provisions of the Mastea- Plan adopted in 2005. M. Mahoney seconded
the motion which was unanimously approved.
;, . .
VI. COMMUNICATIONS:
1VIs.
