: .. <br />CUI,TURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLIVISTED <br />MEETING MINUT'ES OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2007 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in Old Town Hall. <br />Present: Beverle Martindale, Faye Curry, Gerald Yusticlc, Royden Garland, John <br />Kepperley <br />Absent: David Wahl, Barbara Brown <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mrs. Martindale moved, seconded by Mr. Kepperley, to approve the minutes of June 27 2007, <br />which was unanimously approved, 54 <br />OLID BUSINESS <br />Frostville Art Show <br />Mr. Kepperley reviewed the cost of the Art Show, itemizing the costs for materials and <br />advertising. With 25 artists participating, that would be substantial enough to cover all the costs. <br />Kiwanis did cover the cost of the portable restrooms, sign banner, and Office Max charges for <br />printing. Frostville did not charge a fee for the use of the property, however they did charge for <br />two extra portable restrooms. Mr. Kepperley created a letter and survey which he proposes to <br />mail to all of the artists who participated in the show. The Commission reviewed the survey. <br />Mr. Kepperley would like to inform the participants that next year there will be improvements to <br />the venue. The Lone Star vendor would also lilce to be more centralized at the festival. <br />Frostville did very well selling sausage and hot dogs. Mrs. Martindale was happy with the High <br />School art display as well. Mr. Kepperley would like to keep it a one day festival for next year; <br />however it could evolve to more days over the years. The plan for next year is to have the <br />festival two weeks out from Homecoming. Ms. Curry noted the importance of maintaining <br />complete objectivity with judging the High School portion of the art show. The top three <br />students had their work displayed in the Homecoming tent, although all the students received <br />recognition for their participation. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />COMMITTEE ItEPORTS <br />Dover Players: Mrs. Martindale updated the Commission on the upcoming show Bell, Book and <br />Candle. The show will run the last two weekends in October. The Director is also interested in <br />teaching acting classes for younger children as well. <br />COM1VIUNICATIONS
