. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 1, 2008 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Garland called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Library. <br />Present: Royden Garland, Faye Curry, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, <br />Gerald Yustick <br />laEVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Wahl moved, seconded by Ms. Curry, to approve the minutes of September 3, 2008, which <br />was approved, 5-0; Mr. Yustick abstained. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Frostville Art Show <br />Mr. Kepperley sent a$100 payment to the band Miniinum Requirements and $25 each to the <br />other two performers along with a thank you letter. After deducting all expenses, the event made <br />a profit of approximately $300. It is estimated that 1,200 to 1,500 people attended the show <br />before the rain. Various vendor issues and possible changes were discussed. Meetings will be <br />scheduled soon to begin planning for 2009; Lisa of Northcoast Promotions will be invited. Mr. <br />Yusticlc will take new photos of the Frostville Church building for flyers and ads. Photos were <br />talcen during this year's show. <br />Holidav Liizhtiniz Contest <br />Ms. Martindale is concerned with judging lighting displays on Butternut Ridge Road due to <br />traffic safety issues. It was suggested and agreed that the judges could wallc areas where it is not <br />safe or prudent to momentarily stop a vehicle on the roadway to review the display. <br />Christrr?as Festival <br />The band Minimunz Requirements is available for December 30. The puppet show will be <br />scheduled for December 29, both evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m. Old Town Hall will be <br />reserved through Service Secretary Solomon for the festival. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Dover Players Update <br />The Dover Players production of Romeo and Juliet will be performed October 17, 18, 24, 25 and <br />November 1 and 2 at Old Town Hall. The set arrived and is currently in Ms. Martindale's <br />garage. Instead of being "in the round" this play will be done "in the triangle." The director is <br />seeking to use authentic costumes for the fifteen members of the cast. A man who teaches stage
