Mr. Schumann noted that it is a Craftsman style home with shingle elements, more of <br />an eclectic Craftsmen style home. <br />Mrs. Davis moved, seconded by Mr. Orlowski, to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness for <br />color change to 25976 Butternut Ridge Road, which was unanimously approved. <br />Request for a Historic Recognition Plaque: Ardella Chester, 23876 Mastick Road, PPN <br />237-21-004 <br />Mr. Thomas discussed the history of the home. The home was built in 1862, and in 1985 Steve <br />McQuillen included the home in the North Olmsted historic inventory. The home has historic <br />value as related to the Stearns family in North Olmsted. Joseph Peake was also a neighbor of the <br />home. Rodney Webster was the son of the builder John Webster. Mr. Schumann described the <br />style as Italianate and Mr. Thomas noted that the home is very well preserved. The home also <br />has an exterior gas well to illuminate the outside. Mr. Schumann believes that the home is <br />appropriate and eligible for a recognition plaque: <br />Mr. Thomas moved to approve a Historic Recognition Plaque to the home at 23876 <br />Mastick Road, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, which was unanimously approved. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Peake Marker <br />Mr. Thomas received a letter from OHS indicating a grant award for $750 for the Peake Farm <br />marker. Additionally, there is $1,000 from Wal-Mart as well as funds from the Key Club. The <br />marker will take approximately three months to fabricate. <br />Frostville Village Church Plaque <br />Language for the plaque to be ordered by the Planning Department: <br />North Olmsted Landmark <br />Frostville Village Church <br />Circa 1847 <br />Rededicated 2008 <br />Mr. Orlowski would like to provide information about the building's history at Frostville. The <br />Barton Road church is also recognized in the Peake Marker. Mr. Thomas explained the history <br />of the church regarding the Underground Railroad as well as its religious history. The Peake <br />family belonged to the Wesleyan church, which was housed in the structure during that period. <br />Mr. Schumann moved, seconded by Mr. Thomas, to approve the language for a North <br />Olmsted Landmark plaque for the Church at Frostville which was unanimously approved. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />The Commission discussed membership renewals to various organizations. <br />2
