CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 6, 2009 <br />ROLL CALL _ <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the North Olmsted High School office. <br />Present: Gerald Yustick, Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, John Kepperley, Faye Curry, <br />Barbara Brown <br />Also Present: Lisa Nemeth of North Coast Promotions <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Martindale moved, seconded by Mr. Kepperley, to approve the minutes of April 1, 2009, <br />which were approved, 6-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />2009 Juried Arts & Crafts Festival <br />Mr. Kepperley has received two additional entries, which were approved. Ms. Nemeth presented <br />art work samples by six artists for possible inclusion at the festival. The types of art included <br />jewelry, watercolor, photography, mixed media, board art, crocheting, knitting, fiber art, <br />beading, and metal engraving. 'All but one (a j eweler) was accepted; the beaded work appeared <br />commercially purchased. Ms. Nemeth will inform the applicant she has been placed on a <br />waiting list. Eleven artists have been approved to date. The Band Boosters will be selling fruit <br />smoothies, fruit cups, and popcorn. Famous Dave's will also be sellirig food. Music options <br />discussed. Ms. Nemeth asked about an official image or logo for art show flyers. Mr. Kepperley <br />said there is no official image or logo for the show. The paintbrush banner design was done by <br />Planning Director Wenger. He will e-mail the image on the Kiwanis flyer to Lisa Nemeth for <br />use. Mr. Kepperley will check with Sign a Rama to see if the date change on the banners is <br />complete. Art work created by North Olmsted High School students will be selected by the <br />Cultural Activities members for display at the festival. Each commissioner will receive a sheet <br />of small orange "dot" stickers to mark the art work they feel should be featured at the art show. <br />There is no set limit. <br />Centennial of Village of North Olmsted and Citv Schools - Parade EntrY <br />Ms. Martindale reported that she has started planning on an entry 'in the Homecoming parade. <br />The participants will be dressed in a variety of historical costumes representative of various eras <br />and styles since North Olmsted became a village and then a city. She plans to borrow a <br />historical vehicle in which some of the participants can ride. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Cemeterv Improvement Proiect Fundraisin%! Event
