The commission thought city hall should announce the contest in the local paper, send flyers
through schools and post at the library, recreation center, website and cable channel. Each
winner receives an engraved ornament which is presented by the Mayor. Applicants are asked to
submit a photo of their display and the application could include instructions for taking night
shots. Commissioners requested the clerk provide a sample of the application for review at their
next meeting.
Mr. Kepperley said a previous discussion regarding combining the art show with the music
festival that is held two weelcs earlier each year is being looked into. They will be meeting with
Bowling Green students who hold the music festival to discuss details. This year's art show
raised $300 after all expenses were paid. There were three scheduled artists who failed to attend
after paying their application fees.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Mrs. Martindale said Dover Players raised $2,148.25, expenses totaled $1,599.71, netting a profit
of $548.54. The players are trying to push using local or new writers so there are no royalty fees
and can't be seen anywhere else. The next play to talce place is The Question of Guilt which has
five different endings and includes audience participation. The play will run three weekends and
will start the last weelcend in October into second week of November.
Mr. Kepperley said one of the participating artists commended the Kiwanis for providing lunch
and water during the event. Next year the music and art show may talce place the second week in
August depending on what can be worked out with Bowling Green. A brief discussion
pertaining to application fees being increased ensued. Mrs. Starner questioned movies in the
parlc which she hasn't seen any information on or seen. She aslced why the recreation center no
longer held movies in the parlc and felt it would be worth looking into brining back.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioners' absences are excused.
Mr. Kepperley moved, seconded by Mrs. Starner, to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m.,
which was approved 5-0.
.
4-Geld Yusti k, ir /Donna Rote, Clerlc of Commission
?
Approved:
