The commission thought city hall should announce the contest in the local paper, send flyers <br />through schools and post at the library, recreation center, website and cable channel. Each <br />winner receives an engraved ornament which is presented by the Mayor. Applicants are asked to <br />submit a photo of their display and the application could include instructions for taking night <br />shots. Commissioners requested the clerk provide a sample of the application for review at their <br />next meeting. <br />Mr. Kepperley said a previous discussion regarding combining the art show with the music <br />festival that is held two weelcs earlier each year is being looked into. They will be meeting with <br />Bowling Green students who hold the music festival to discuss details. This year's art show <br />raised $300 after all expenses were paid. There were three scheduled artists who failed to attend <br />after paying their application fees. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Mrs. Martindale said Dover Players raised $2,148.25, expenses totaled $1,599.71, netting a profit <br />of $548.54. The players are trying to push using local or new writers so there are no royalty fees <br />and can't be seen anywhere else. The next play to talce place is The Question of Guilt which has <br />five different endings and includes audience participation. The play will run three weekends and <br />will start the last weelcend in October into second week of November. <br />Mr. Kepperley said one of the participating artists commended the Kiwanis for providing lunch <br />and water during the event. Next year the music and art show may talce place the second week in <br />August depending on what can be worked out with Bowling Green. A brief discussion <br />pertaining to application fees being increased ensued. Mrs. Starner questioned movies in the <br />parlc which she hasn't seen any information on or seen.
