CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMIVIISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MINUTES OF JUNE 1, 2011 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chair Yustick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Branch Library. <br />Present: Beverle Martindale, David Wahl, Gerald Yustick, Nasreen Starner <br />Absent: Barbara Brown, Barbara Schirhart, Miguel Cora <br />Visitors: Councilman Paul Schumann, Chelsea Schumann, Christopher Kulhanek <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Starner moved, seconded by 1VIr. Wahl, to approve the May 4, 2011 minutes, which <br />was approved 4-0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Cuyaho-ga Arts & Culture <br />Mr. Yusticlc reviewed that Ms. Wenger will be sending a letter of intent on behalf of the Kiwanis <br />Club of North Olmsted to participate and Ms. Schumann will be assisting her. <br />North Olmsted City Hall Art Gallery <br />Mr. Yustick said his ariwork will be displayed throughout city hall over the next three month <br />period. <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Olmsted Festival of the Arts <br />Mr. Wahl said the committee received more applications this year at this point than in prior <br />years. He received three new artist applications as well as a request from a charity foundation. <br />An application from an author who writes about Ohio wineries was received. The <br />commissioners didn't object to having an author in the festival however there could be no <br />alcohol served as it is prohibited in the Metroparks. Mr. Wahl said there were 73 pieces of art <br />chosen from the High School to be displayed during the festival. <br />Emerald Village submitted a checlc to be listed as a patron in the festival brochure. Mr. Wahl <br />said each of the sponsors should be contacted to acknowledge receipt. Mr. Schumann asked if <br />the commissioners could assist in finding sponsors for the festival. He reviewed how Frostville <br />handles non-profit groups whom participate in their events and how successful it has been. <br />A brief discussion ensued pertaining to the number of jewelry vendors approved for the event <br />and possibly limiting how many can participate each year.
