ROLL CALL: Chairma.u Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:40 P.M. <br />Present: B. Zergott, M. Yager, and T. Liggett. <br />II. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Developers Diversified Realty Corp (Home Depot)• Great Northern Shopping Ctr• <br />Proposal consists of receiving the approval of the new store front. <br />, Heard by plauuing commission May 12, 1998:and referred to architectuaal review board for <br />review of plan and to the city traffic engineer to determine if the turning radius in the back is <br />? adequate for the trucks. Tabled at architectural review board meeting of May 20, 1998. <br />Mr. Barrow representing the developer presented the proposal and introduced Mr. Scherry <br />and Mr. Perisi the architects foi this proposal. The following changes were made to the <br />elevations since the previous submission: the amount of orange has been reduced to break up <br />the front facade; all the doors were now displayed to match the building (doors were originally <br />shown as `Home Depot Orange"); the orange color has been removed from the canopy for <br />the customer service; medallions have been incorporated across the front facade of the store <br />to create more of a uniform look; the height of the sign has been reduced; there will be a band <br />across the back of the building to soften the appearance of the wall; and the canopies over the <br />garden center appear as a rounded dimension (they were originally triangular shaped). Mr. <br />Scherry presented elevations of the rest of the shopping center so that the board can see how <br />"The Home Depot" will fit into the presentation. There will be three colors of concrete <br />sidewalk utilized throughout the shopping center and the sidewalk will be widened at main <br />entrances such as the entrance to the theater and the customer pick-up lane for "Me Home <br />Depot." He elaborated the sidewalk for "°The Home Depot" will jut out 8 feet around the <br />entrance vestibules. Traffic flow through the pick-up lanes will be one way. There will be <br />signs posted on the east side of the pick-up lanes stating "Do Not Enter." Some dividers have <br />also been added between the road and pick up lane so that oncoming traffic can see there is a <br />division in the road. Mr. Parisi pointed out the planters in front of the building.. As there was <br />some concem mentioned at the last meeting regarding how the garden center will look in the <br />• off season, Mr. Parisi advised they have decided to incorporate roll down mesh fabric on the <br />inside of the fence to hide the garden center during the off season.
