He indicated the setback had to do with the extension of <br />the canopy and the extension of the business 50-foot setback since they abut Brookpark Road. <br />Mr. Saylor questioned if the request is a variance to that setback. Mr. Saylor showed pictures of <br />the adjacent property in which the building is fairly close Brookpark and is actually closer than <br />what Fifth Third's drive though is to the board members. He then showed different views of other <br />properties adjacent to the Bank. NIr. Saylor indicated that presently there is a stucco board <br />material in which the Bank will match the color_and that the appearance of the building will not be <br />altered.. Mr. Saqior indicated that the existing exterior of the building is stone material. Mr. <br />Asseff questioned if the area under the canopy was going to be well lit. Mr. Saylor indicated <br />there would be quartz down lighting. Mr. Saylor then showed a picture of a canopy on a Fifth <br />Third Bank in Medina. He indicated there is limited signage with only an open sign, which is 6 <br />inches by 24 inches wide. Mr. Allan questioned if the canopy will be well lit and was concerned <br />with the safety feature of the ATM being behind the building after dark. Mr. Saylor indicated that <br />the canopy would be well lit with six to ten 300-watt lamps underneath. Mr. Saylor then <br />indicated that the subject was brought to the security department and they feel more comfortable <br />having the ATM as a drive-through as opposed to a walk-up. Mr. Spalding questioned whether <br />there were lights in the back of the building. Mr. Saylor indicated that there are three lights in the ? <br />rear. Mr. Tallon questioned whether the canopy lights would be on all niaht. Mr. Saylor <br />indicated the lights would be on 24 hours, as policy. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if the pole lights <br />would be lit as well. Mr. Saylor indicated that the lights would be lit. Mr. Tallon questioned if <br />the canopy lighting would be recessed so there is nothing below the fixture. Mr. Saylor replied <br />"Yes". Mr. Tallon questioned if the area illuminated would be under the entire canopy or only <br />near the ATM. Mr. Saylor indicated the lighting would cover the entire area of the canopy as - <br />well as the ATM. He then indicated that usually the lanes are split and you would have lights <br />three deep. On this canopy there would be at least six recessed lights. Mr. Conway questioned if the inside lane was ever open. 1VIr. Saylor indicated "yes", but after hours it would be a night drop <br />for businesses. Mr. AssefF questioned the safety of the difference between a walk up and a drive <br />up. Mr. Saylor indicated that he feels the drive up is safer than-getting out of the car. <br />R. Ta11on motioned to approve Fifth Third Bank of 26187 Lorain Rd. the proposal which consists <br />of an ATM machine with a canopy, and to send on to the Architectural Review Board. If no <br />major changes are to be made, the proposal can go on to Board of Zoning and Development. The <br />motion was seconded by C. Allan and unanimously approved. Motion Carraed. <br />R. Tallon made a motion to recommend Fifth Third Bank to Board of Zoning Appeals that the <br />variance for the canopy in the 50-foot setback is granted. The motion was seconded by S. Asseff <br />and unanimously approved. In the framing of the motion, R. Tallon questioned if there would be <br />an upgrade to the landscaping due to the use of the rear of the building. Mr. Saylor indicated the <br />bank would like to do something with the back parking lot. Mr. Tallon suggested getting a <br />landscaping plan into the proposal for the Architectural Review Board. Motion Carried. <br />2. Soccer Sportsplex; 31515 Lorain Rd. <br />Proposal consists of an addition added to the existing building. <br />Chairman Tallon called all interested parties forward to review the request. Mr. Schmidt came <br />forward to review the request. Mr. Conway indicated that the entire proposal was under a <br />variance for use. Mr. Conway indicated that the Law Department indicated the proposal would <br />2
