ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. <br />PRESENT: Chairman Lang, Board members; L. VanAuken, B. Lord, P. Barker, G. Corell, <br />and K. O'Rourke. <br />ABSENT: A. Smeraldi, C. Miller, and M. Gareau Jr. <br />II. REVEEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: The minutes of the Landmarks Commission <br />meeting held on September 11, 2000 have been submitted for approval. <br />Mrs. VanAuken commented that her name and Mrs. Lord's name were confused throughout <br />the minutes and she has made corrections as needed to her minutes, which will be submitted <br />to the Clerk for review and correction. <br />L. VanAuken motioned to approve the Landmarks meeting minutes dated September. 11, <br />2000 as corrected. The motion was seconded by G. Corell and unanimously approved. <br />III. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Sterling & Jeannie Bradley; 25991 Butternut Ridge Road: <br />Proposal consists of removing existing vinyl siding and installing vinyl soffits covering. <br />Mr. Lang commented that they are proposing to repair the cedar lap siding on three peaked <br />areas of the home, which will be going back to the way it was when the home was originally <br />built. He then added there is not a request for shingles. Mr. Barker questioned if all they <br />want to do is restore the wood. Mr. Dirosa came forward to comment that this came up as <br />they were in the process of tearing off the aluminum siding. They were going to replace all <br />of the aluminum siding with vinyl siding, but when they torn the aluminum siding off they <br />saw the cedar lap siding. They want to have the cedar lap siding; if it is salvageable they plan <br />to fix it, paint it, and cover the soffits on the cedar lap siding. Mr. ,Corell questioned if the <br />cedar is not repairable will it just be covered by the vinyl siding. Mr. Dirosa replied that they <br />would cover the cedar just the way it was covered up before. Mr. Dirosa commented that he <br />has been in the siding business for about twenty years and he owns a siding business. He is <br />also xied into Cleveland's historic committee so he does a lot of historic renovations. Mr. <br />Lang questioned from Mr. Dirosa's based on his experience is it very common that cedar <br />would rot. Mr. Dirosa replied no. The cedar has been covered by the old siding for at least <br />twenty-five years and it is still in very good shape. He wants the contractor to give an <br />opinion as to whether or not they can paint over the wood or if they should sandblast and <br />stain the cedar. Mrs. Lord questioned if they were talking the whole house or just the garage. <br />Mr. Dirosa replied just the piece of the house. Mr. Lang implied that there are two on the
