Park-N-Ride will be taking out the Paddock greenhouses, one house, and the eastern boundary of
the Kennedy house, which is Schiniedlin family owned. A member then questioned what the
commission needed to do to preserve the Kennedy house. Another member commented that the
board needed to buy the house and move it to the east or to Frostville. Money for this would need
to come from grants or foundations. Mr. Corell commented that RTA offered the house to
Frostville and was refused by the Historic Society. Mr. Barker questioned why Frostville would
refuse RTA's offer. The transplanting cost for the house is high. W. Miller questioned why there
is a rush to move the house. Mr. Lang commented that the deal is done and the question is
whether or not we want to save this house.
At this time Mayor Musial arrived for the swearing in of the new board members Mr. Barker and
Mr. Corell. Mayor Norman T. Musial swore in and welcomed Mr. Barker and Mr. Corell to the
Landmarks Commission.
While the mayor was there the board questioned the renewal of appointment dates. The mayor
replied that he would get the list to Mr. Lang. Mr. Barker questioned the time frame of the Park-
N-Rides construction. Mr. Musial commented that it would be from March through September
2001. Mr. Corell inquired if there was any way of leaving the house on the property and if it was
possible to save the 200-year old tree in the yard. The board decided to check with Ralph
Bohlman on the parcel number and with MaryBeth on the RTA plans. A member suggested that
an article might provide use of archivists or interns. Another member questioned why the
information is kept in a vault and if the commission should keep them. He also questioned whom
the commission wants to give them to. A member then questioned if they needed to keep
everything. Mr. Lang replied for seven years. Mr. Corell inquired about a joint venture with the
Historic Society. Mrs. VanAuken commented that the Kitsen or Carpinter house would be open
in July. Mr. Barker questioned why RTA wasn't brought before Landmarks or even Planning.
Mr. Corell questioned the obligation of Landmarks. Mr. Lang then explained Landmarks purpose
as a whole. The meeting ended with discussions of suburban growth.
SPECIAL MEETING:
Mr. Lang commented that there would be a need to have a special meeting to discuss work
sessions, by-laws, and ordinances that are now in existence: The All Nations Festival will be held
on Tuesday, March 21 in the North Olmsted High School gymnasium.
VII. ADJOURNIVENT:
Mr. Corell motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Miller seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned
at 9:17 P.M.
