a
7:30pm time for "New Business". She replied that as far as the starting time for their meetings, if
the meeting is called to order at 7:00pm that is what we have to put on the agenda because the
board is a public quorum. What they can do is put a time (7:30pm) next to the New Business
spot on the agenda, but she has the feeling that if the board is ready to start before, then the
board would have to wait until 7:30pm. He explained that the Heaton's were present at 6:45 for
that meeting and for instance today they were supposed to start at 7:00pm and they didn't get
moving until 7:15pm. As far as the information sheet they did add to the top of the sheet;
"Guidelines for Landmarks or Property in Historic District".
Mr. Barker indicated the City had a meeting last week in which Mayor Musial asked him his
opinion of the building for the library plan. He learned that the building will not be in the historic
district, but the green space will be in the historic district. So, he knows that communications
have been forwarded to the Mayor from himself through a councilman, by Mrs. VanAuken about
Greek Revival. Examples would be Martindale, Briggs House and the Universalist Church. He
will submit this again to him stating that this is a Georgian Theme and that Landmarks is not very
happy with it. He doesn't know what else to say in regards to that. Mrs. VanAuken commented
that the Mayor said to her that people voted on the basis of what they saw on the pictures. If it
looks too different from that they will think they've been had. Mrs. Lord indicated that at the
time of the election they were told they were looking at a stock architecture plan. The pictured
library was just supposed to be a sample library. Mr. Barker suggested meeting with the Mayor,
Mr. Tallon, and this board to discuss the letter from Marge Lawson. This meeting should be
organized soon because they are going to break ground in spring. Mr. Corell questioned if when
the properties are combined, might the building be legally in the historic district. Mrs. Lord
indicated that the ordinance is written so the building has to be within 500 ft. from the middle of
the road. Mrs. Lord commented that she would talk to the Mayor to try to set up a meeting
about the Library.
Mrs. Lord indicated that this is an amazing letter from Marge Lawson. Mrs. O'Rourke indicated
that this letter showed up in her Planning Commission packet and at the meeting Planning
Commission motioned to take this letter to Landmarks. Mrs. Lord indicated that the bottom line
is they would like to have the Stearns name brought forth for a donation. There is a lot of
interesting information in the letter. She noted that in Parma's historical area there is the Stearns
Farm and a Stearns Rd., which somehow corresponds with the North Olmsted Stearns families.
She indicated that she didn't do anything with this letter because she felt like they needed as a
group to pull together a plan of action. Mr. Corell suggested that Mrs. Lawson mentions getting
together and talking and sharing whatever information she has. He thinks they should get that
oral history project started with Mrs. Lawson, the perfect candidate. Mrs. Lord agreed that
could be done. She indicated that she would call Nlrs. Lawson and the Mayor to get something
going.
V. CONIlVIITTEE REPORTS:
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
Chairr)9n Lord adjourned the meeting at 9:0 5 pm.
B. Lord, Chairman
Asst.
