Discussion took place about a design review committee. Mr. Corell suggested that applicants
could meet with this Iess than a quorum group and the group could get applicants rolling as to
what the board is looking for and what Landmarks stands by. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if when
people move into the historic district they are told that there are certain guidelines to renovating
their home. Mrs. Davis commented that Mrs. O'Rourke had a good question and wasn't sure if
they are told. She tells people that she deals with, but isn't sure about other realtors. Mrs.
O'Rourke commented that it is not like they can't do what they'd like, it is just the whole
consulting with this board and then if the board doesn't like it, they have to wait it out before
doing the work. Mrs. Lord wasn't sure if there was any way they could make realtors tell people
that. Mrs. O'Rourke agreed.
Mrs. Lord questioned if a board member would like to volunteer to put together something in
writing that they could put into a tri-fold or something that they could stick over at Town Hall
where they hand out freebies. Just something to let people know how they can use Landmarks.
Mr. Corell questioned if there was no tri-fold on the Landmarks Commission and who they are
and what they do. Mrs. Lord replied no. Mr. Corell indicated that they should try to make one,
and include the idea that the board can help before and after the fact. Mrs. Lord thanked him for
volunteering.
M. Davis indicated that at the next meeting she will have much more information on the history
of Springvale because next week she is sitting down with the contact person to gather as much
information as possible.
Mrs. Lord indicated that the board members should keep their eyes open as to homes they
believe should have a historical plaque. Mrs. Davis questioned what the criteria was for a home
to get one of these. Mrs. Lord replied that it must be 80 years old or over.
Mrs. Lord indicated that she could not make the December 10, 2001 meeting. She wondered if
the other board members had a problem with moving it to the 3"d of December, which is the first
Monday of the month. The other board members had no problem.
G. Corell motioned to move Deceinbers meeting date to be the 3 day of that month. The inotion
was seconded by P. Barker and was unanimously approved. Motion passed. Next ianeeting
December 3, 2001.
VI. ADJOURNIVENT:
Chairman Lord adjourned the meeting at 8:07pm.
B. Lord, Chairman
Asst. Clerk of Commissions, Shaun Solomon
3
