ti
Kerr replied that he could tell them in the future not to put up any permanent window signs, that
he could do. For example, the karaice place has a little sign on their front door that just says Shaio
L,inn Karate. It is a$500 sign, it doesn't look like it but it is. If he meets code on his wall signs,
someone can come in there and put up window signs that are smaller than 10 sq. ft., take up less
than 25% of the window, and yet that will be counted against his signage of the building. They
intend to make the building look considerably better. When they make those changes all of those
signs will have to come down. He believes he can get four of them to go back up on the new
plan. The fifth one is going to be a problem. Mr. Maloney corrunented that he thought Mr. Kerr
did a good job with checking into the signage and coming back with aprogram for the building.
He had no more problems and questioned if any one else had further problems or questions.
J. Konold motioned to approve Consolidated Mgmt., Inc. at 26404 Lorain Rd. their variances as
requested. T. Koberna seconded the motion and was unanirnously approved. Granted 4/5/01.
9. Lighthouse Pools; 25601 I,orain Road
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of a canopy.
The following variance is requested:
A 28foot variance for front yard setback (code requires 75ft, applicant shows 47ft.
VJhich is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1139.07.
Note: 1) The above variance was created by the recommendations of the Architectural Review
Board on March 21, 2001 and approved by the Planning Commission on Ii!Iarch 27, 2001. 2)
This variance is in addition to the variances granted March l, 2001.
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the request. The oath was
adininistered to Steve Schill, the architect, who came forward to review the proposal. Mr. Schill
commented that they are back before the board for one more variance. They appeared before the
Architectural Review Board and they thought it was in Litehouse's best interest to replicate the
front of the building where the overhang shows on the other side of the building to help balance it
out. There are 2 ft. x 2 ft. columns that shoot down and they would create another canopy on the
addition. Mr. Maloney questioned if the board members had any questions for Mr. Schill. No
further questions were asked.
T. Koberna motioned to grant Lighthouse Pools at 25601 Lorain Rd. their variances as written.
W. Kremzar seconded the motion and was unanimously approved. Granted 4/5/01.
10. Cord Camera 23789 Y,oraan 12oad
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of erecting 4 wall signs at north elevation.
The following variance is requested: -
A variance to insta114 additional wall signs, (code permits 2, applicant shows 6). Which is in
violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1163.27 (a). Note: Wall sign at west elevation not yet installed,
which is conforming.
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the proposal. The oath was
adininistered to Tiin Sheehy, with Custom Sign Center, and Steve Cordle, the owner, who came
forward to review the request. Mr. Sheehy commented that they have the Cord Camera sign on
the front, but it doesn't really say everything they have to offer. They are in the allowable, the key
is it is on a different plane as the larger Cord Camera sign. It's just neon lit channel letters. The
building department is now allowing the sign on the side of the building, so they are only
discussing the four little boxes around the large front sign. From the road it looks like all one
8
