. . ? '
whether a few mounds in the front of Lorain Road are going to impact how beautiful the building is. It is
far enough away and a person can see over it easily. He would not be afraid to mound those areas as long
? as they leave gaps between them. Mr. Zergott said he hates to call them mounds. He would rather refer
to it as a rolling grade. He said instead of making the thing flat, have the whole thing roll. Mrs. Creadon
mentioned the rolling grade at the new site of Chambers Funeral Home. Mr. Zergott said there is enough
land to do that. Mr. Yager said the team has done a nice job from the beginning, entering the site, through
the building. He is intrigued with the idea of keeping the foundation stones and using them somewhere in
the library. They are beautiful. They could also be the base for the gazebo. Mr. Hunsicker said they even
wondered about scattering them along the walk path. Mr. Zergott said it is nice to have something in the
city they can refer to when they ask people to come up with something better. It says, if we can do it
better, you can do it better. Mr. Yager mentioned the earlier applicant, Speedway, and the fact that he
rejected their canopy saying it looks industrial. The applicant told the board they have driven down
Lorain Road and they found that is the look. Mr. Hunsicker said when they started on this project, they
traveled everywhere. Their first version of the library was a modern looking building, which the Mayor
promptly rejected. Mayor Musial said they can make this a benchmark for the future. Mr. Yager said he
is glad we now have something that they can refer people to.
M. Yager made a motion to approve the proposal as submitted with the following recommendations: The
board recommends the gazebo be raised and is more in keeping with the library construction. Mr. Zergott
said once they see all the rod-iron or aluminum-look rod-iron on the site, if they add a railing to the
gazebo, it will blend in. Mr. Yager added they recommend that some of the foundation stones to be used
as benches and that the walkway around that walking path be away from the drive and parking areas. The
motion was seconded by B. Zergott and unanimously approved.
III. NEW BUSINESS:
40 VI.
