Kelly motioned to grant Plato's Closet of 4636 Great Northern Blvd their request for <br />variance (1123.12), which consists of additaonal square footage foa- sign and that the following <br />varaances are granted: <br />1. A 21.25 square foot variance for maximum sign face area per build'ang unit (code permits 25 <br />sq. ft., applicant shows 46.25 sq. ft.), section (1163.24 (c)). <br />2. A 46.25 square foot variance for maximum sign face area per building (code permits 336 sq. <br />ft., applicant shows 382.25 sq. ft.), section (1163.24 (b)). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.24 (c)), and (1163.24 (b)). The proposal consists of minimizing parking spaces required. <br />The following variance is requested: <br />l. A 45 parking space variance for required parking spaces (code requires 73, applicant shows 28). <br />Which is in violation of (1161.05 (w)). <br />Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review their request. Mr. Abuzahrieh, the <br />manager of the restaurant, Mrs. Abuzahrieh the owner, and Ms. Haschka, an employee each came <br />forward to be sworn in and address the request. The applicants reviewed that they are trying to <br />generate business for Wednesday evenings by holding classic car shows every Wednesday. It would <br />be every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. throughout the summer months. If the variance is <br />granted they would start right away and go through the end of September. The commission questioned <br />if there would be live music or liquor outdoors. The applicant indicated that there would be a DJ and <br />most of the patrons would be the ones driving the cars and they do not serve liquor. <br />W. Which is in violation of (1161.05 (w)). J. Maloney seconded the motion, <br />which was unanimously approved. Variance Granted <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />The Board of Zoning Appeals members voiced that they were disappointed that Council had an open <br />hearing regarding ordinance 2003-36 and that they were never invited to voice their opinions regarding <br />the ordinance considering it affected their board. The commissioners all agreed that if any ordinance is <br />before Council that affects a specific board or commission council should invite that board or <br />commission to the council meeting to give their opinions. The Assistant Law Director suggested that <br />the commissioners could send Council a memo or direct their clerk to send Council a memo to voice <br />their concerns. <br />V.
