4.. . .r t <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES - FEBRUARY 25, 2003 <br />IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />7:30 P.M. <br />1. ROLL CAI.,L: Chairman Koeth called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. <br />PRESENT: R. Koeth, S. Hoff-Smith, K. O'Rourke, W. Spalding, and J. Lasko <br />ALSO PRESENT: Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Building Commissioner D. Conway, and <br />Assistant Clerk of Commissions A. Kilbane <br />ABSENT: T. Hreha, C. Allan <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />The Planning Commission minutes dated February 11, 2003 have been submitted for approval. <br />R. Koeth made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded by W. <br />Spalding and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUII,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />IV. NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND SUBDIVI5IONS: <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />VI. COMIVIITTEE REPORTS: <br />VII. MINOR CHANGES: <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Master Plan review <br />Chairman Koeth appointed Mr. Spalding and Mr. Hreha to lead the review process. He asked Mrs. <br />Hoff-Smith to act as secretary for those occasions when they get together outside of their regular <br />meetings. He indicated they can schedule additional meetings of 1-11/2 hours in length as "the <br />deadline draws near so they can move along with the review. He asked that any prepared information <br />be reviewed by the board members before each meeting. He suggested having a member of Council <br />come to a meeting and perhaps they can contact the Mayor and other key people that will assist with <br />the revision of the master plan. Mr. Koeth added that any public meetings will not involve public . <br />participation, but rather observation only. The board needs the census data that was not available <br />during the last review. He indicated the county planning commissioners can come back once the <br />board gets the process started. They offered a lot of information and are not expensive. The board <br />may even be able to bring in private consultants. Mrs. Hoff-Smith brought up the Vision 2000 <br />Committee and said she would like to see its report. Mr. Spalding said he may be able to get some ? <br />information on it. Mr. Koeth said that is a resource they need to take a look at. Mr. O'Malley said / <br />he e-mailed the regional planning commissioners and tried to interest them in making someJ % <br />suggestions to the city in terms of getting started. He also tried to suggest to them that there migY <br />still be a business opportunity for them out here. He mentioned The Ainerican Planning Associa+" <br />website and the Plannersweb.com site. There is a wealth of information on the internet thW? <br />provide a"how to" guide. He also tried to get some feedback on the budget issue. As he und/ <br />it, there is some debate as to the role of the planning director. He said there is some que/ <br />whether that person would also be an economic development director or if there w,/ <br />separate positions. He said he gets the sense from Councilman McKay that the citi ? <br />? <br />
