CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />."TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!" <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES - DECEMBER 23, 2003 <br />IN COUNCIL CHAMBER5 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />ROLL CALL: Chairman Koeth called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. <br />PRESENT: R. Koeth, M. Yager, J. Lasko, W. Spalding, and C. Allan <br />ALSO PRESENT: Planning Director K. Wenger, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, Assistant Building <br />Commissioner T. Rymarczyk, City Engineer G. Durbin, and Assistant Clerk of Commissions A. Kilbane <br />ABSENT: T. Hreha, and S. Hoff-Smith <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINTJTES: <br />The Planning Commission minutes dated November 25, 2003 have been submitted for approval. <br />Chairman Koeth announced that the minutes from the November 25, 2003 meeting have not been fully <br />transcribed and will be addressed at the next meeting. . <br />III. BLTII,DING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS: <br />1. Dunkin Donuts/ Baskin Robbins; PP# 237-09-005 (Clague Road (WRD 2) <br />Proposal consists of construction of a new Dunkin Donuts/ Baskin Robbins Reta.il building. Note: The Architectural <br />Review Board addressed the proposal on 11-19-03 and 12-17-03. Planning Commission tabled proposal 11-25-03. <br />THIS PROPOSAL HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE AGENDA AT THE REQUEST OF THE <br />PLANNING DIRECTOR. THE PROPOSAL WILL RETURN TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION ON <br />JANUARY 13, 2004 <br />? 2. Ganley Westside VW; 25600 Lorain Road: (WRD 1) <br />Proposal consists of the construction of a third building, which will be 34,200 square feet and house Ganley <br />Westside VW. Note: The Architectural Review Board addressed the proposal on 11-19-03 and 12-17-03. Planning <br />Commission tabled the proposal 11-25-03. <br />THIS PROPOSAL HAS BEEN WITHDRAW FROM THE AGENDA AT THE REQUEST OF THE <br />APPLICANT. THE PROPOSAL WILL RETURN TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION ON JANUARY 13, <br />2004. <br />3. Sprintcom, Inc.;27351 Butternut Ridge Road; (WRD3) <br />Proposal consists of the construction of a telecommunications monopole at the southwest area of the North <br />Olmsted football field, which will include the reinstallation of the existing lights. <br />Note: The Architectural Review Board addressed this at its meeting on 12-17-03. <br />Mr. Lasko said for purposes of the record, as a member-elect of the North Olmsted School Board he will <br />have to excuse himself from any consideration of this matter, after consultation with the Assistant Law <br />Director. <br />Apnlicant's Presentation <br />Mr. David Richards, an agent for Sprintcom, came forward to address the commission. He explained the <br />proposal is to replace an existing light pole at the southwest corner of the high school football field with a <br />120 foot structure that would serve as the carrier for the existing light array that is currently at the field. It <br />would house the Sprintcom antenna array at the 120 foot level. At the base of the structure would be <br />Sprint's power and radio frequency equipment in a compound that would be surrounded by an 8 foot fence <br />and evergreen landscaping. Access to the site would be accomplished by an asphalt path. There is an <br />existing asphalt path running along the westerly property line that would be widened to accommodate the <br />occasional vehicle traffic down to maintain the site. Maintenance would be roughly once per month when <br />a technician would visit the location, usually at odd hours when no one is present at the site.
