An interested buyer, Mr. Robert Mordaunt came forward. He met with a person, who
-- claimed he was the owner on August 28?' and made an offer to purchase the property. As
of today, he has not heard if that offer was accepted. His plans are to demolish the
house and rebuild it. Mr. O'Malley said the Board should make the motion to continue
and ask the Building Departrnent to present them with an inspection report from a
structural engineer and a Board of Health determination.
Mr. O'Malley said that the main concern is whether the structure is dangerous and
requested the Board ask City Council to have it demolished. Mr. O'Malley stated that
whether ownership transfers or not, this will not be a consideration as to if it should be
condemned and demolished.
R. Puzzitiello said the City should try to prevent these types of situations from arising
and said they are a detriment to the City and should be handled quickly without
trampling on owner's rights. Mr. O'Malley said the building department encounters
more and more of these types of abandoned and foreclosed buildings and the City has to
proceed against property owners that are no longer living.
R. Puzzitiello moved to table the demolition of the property owned by Theresa
Krysiak of 4170 Columbia Road for 30 days pending an inspection from a
structural engineer and a representative from the Board of Health to report on the
condition of the property that it is beyond repair. P. Engoglia seconded the motion,
Roll call on the motion, R. Puzzitiello, P. Engoglia, M. Conway, "Yes", and N.
Althen, abstained. Proposal tabled.
VI.
