list. Mr. Barker believed that if the City picked that site they should be mindful of
demolishing the home. Mr. O'Malley was not sure what the size requirements are, nor,
which parcels are in the running for the new location. Mr. Rerko believed that if the
firehouse was on the same property there should be a deed restriction to protect the home.
B. Flyer from Oberlin Heritage Center
C. Cleveland Restoration News Letter for December
D. Forum News Nov/Dec 2004
E. Fagade Fa112004 issue No. 74
VI. COMIVIIT'I'EE REPORTS:
Mr. Lang read aloud a letter dated December 6, 2004 from Assistant Law Director O'Malley.
It advised that the law department reviewed the C L G application portions which have been
submitted and suggests that Landmarks motion to request legislation to have the C L G
application approved by Council and signed by the Mayor. He recommends Landmark direct
a memo to the Mayor and Council requesting their joint sponsorship and support for said
legislation. Mr. Barker questioned why Landmark would request approval from Council
when they have not completed the application requirements. Mr. O'Malley believed that the
commission was ready to submit, he did not know that there are still requirements to be met.
He is just advising the commission to have Council review all the documentation prior to
submitting to the historical society. They need to approve the concepts more than the details.
Mr. Lang questioned if the commission could make a motion and hold it until such time as
they review the completed application. Mr. O'Malley answered yes and suggested that there
is no time like the present to start the process. Mrs. Lord questioned if it was a two phase
process first asking to go ahead from Council then with the understanding when ready ask for
the formal approval before submitting the final application. Mr. O'Malley advised that
Council can give the go ahead then with the Mayors signature and assistance the commission
can present to the Ohio Historical Society for review and comment then malce the
adjustments and the Mayor is authorized to sign and file the application.
B. Lord inovecl to have Landmarks request the authorization by City Council for
Landmarks to submit a C L G application to the Ohio Historical Socfety. P. Barker
seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
B. I,ord moved to direct the clerk to draft a memo on behalf of the Landmarks
Commission addressecl to the mayor with copies to all of Council and Law Director
advising that at the December 13, 2004 uYeeting Landmarks passed a motion requesting
legislation authorizing the CI.G application and respectfully request joint sponsorship
of said legislation and consideration of this matter in the due course of Councils
business. Landmarks would be happy to attend a council meeting to discuss the CLG
application, forms prepaped and the process which the commission anticipates before
the Ohio Historical Society. R. Koeth seconded the motion which was unanimously
approved.
The CLG committee will try to meet during the day in Old Town Hall either December 27,
2004 or December 28, 2004. Commissioners exchanged e-mails and Mrs. Lord advised that
she would e-mail everyone with the exact date the committee will meet.
VII. OLD BUSINESS:
