voiced that they do not recommend aluminum, vinyl siding, or any other artificial siding to the
surface of a home in the historical district, which is not age specific to the home, which it is to be
applied. The applicant asked if he should replace the wood with wood siding. The board asked
what the difference in cost is using vinyl or wood. The applicant had not priced wood siding nor
would he know were to purchase it. The applicant voiced a concern of wood siding, even just
replacing those which need replacing would require the removal of all the siding as they are
interlocked. The board tried to assure the applicant that they are only trying to help him maintain
the value and integrity of his home. The board questioned other than the convenience of not
having to continuously paint the house why the applicant is requesting the vinyl siding. Mr.
Dunlap voiced that at one point in time all the wood siding will need to be replaced, if he just
paints the rotten boards now it wont last. The board questioned what percentage of the wood
siding requires replacing. Mr. Dunlap does not think any of the wood is rotten all the way
through but it is not in the same shape that it was when first built. The board asked if the
applicant had spoken to a specialist in the field to get advice on how to address the weathered
wood. The board suggested that as the applicant had not spoken to anyone about how to address
his home he may want to speak with board member Schumann who is a neighbor as he is an
expert in the field. Discussions regarding some type of protective insulation being used or not
took place. The board suggested the applicant return for a second meeting with them after he
reassess the condition of the wood siding on his home, and an estimate of price differences in
costs.
G. Nasher moved to table Matt Dunlap of 26550 Butternut Ridge lZoael until meeting next.
When the applicant can reassess the condition of the current wood siding which requires
replacing and provide the board with a cost estimate between wood and vinyl siding. Note
in the framing of the motion Mr. Dunlap was directed to speak with Mr. Schumann as he
could advise the applicant. B. Lord seconded the motion, which was unaniaxaously
approvedo
Mr. Dunlap voiced that he intends to replace all the windows in the homes as well. The board
requested the applicant speak with someone who restores homes to recei"ve advise on how he
could restore his home.
V. COMMUNICATIONS:
A.
