[Mr. Dave Gardner]
Need to further along the improvements plans with the city engineers office. Not let the issues sit
for too long. Otherwise, the issue cools off and the belief is that the issue wasn’t so
urgent/important after all.

If we go too fast with spending our general fund, then we won’t have the borrowing capacity for
recreation. We have a potential opportunity in 2003(?), when the wastewater treatment levy goes
away. This potentially creates an opportunity for the municipality to pass a levy for recreation.
He does not see an immediacy for a varsity baseball diamond renovation/lighting project. Mr.
Jenkins said to look at and sell the idea as an opportunity to create other programs/activities with
the (new) re-configuration. More flexibility at the park.

[Ms. Debbie Adams]
Ms. Debbie Adams feels that the parking lot issue and the tennis courts/basketball courts are
higher priorities than the varsity diamond. The needs/wants really need to be re-assessed and
prioritized.

The general feeling is that council will take a look at the “old”/pre-existing issues and feel the
need to approve those before newer issues which may actually be of greater urgency. Again the
idea is to prioritize the issues.

Mr. Jenkins brought up the question of whether to have the driveway for the park a cul-de-sac or
drive-thru. It was suggested to “rumple-strip” the lot/drive so to be able to have it a drive-thru
lot for safety concerns. The problem, brought up by Todd Morgan, is that “rumple-stripping”
makes snow-plowing difficult. This is an issue that really needs to be looked at further from all
aspects.

[Mr. Dave Gardner]
Regarding the purchase of a tractor…we will have for a long time (20 years). Should we consider
buying new? May be worth it. If we, buy used, then maintenance issues will be a concern.

Regarding ¾ ton truck…could we benefit from getting a used truck or buy new? If we do buy
used, then we may have the funds needed for new bleachers and/or the phone system perhaps.

On the varsity diamond, could we do more in-house work on this project? Would like to look at
this closer to see where we can utilize the city’s resources (for example: trencher) further.

APPOINTMENTS
Tim Smith’s appointment is expiring at the end of the year. Also, Rich Scott has indicated he is
resigning from the commission.

It will be brought up to the Mayor that he will need to appoint another commission member to
replace Mr. Smith.
