(5)
and practices; $16,750 ice rental for hockey practices and games. Currently there is no charge
due to the reciprocal agreement for these rentals and the recreation permits for school usage.
?

Sunday, November 11, we had a power outage. The rink had a ½” water (ice meltdown) on
it. Emergency temporary repairs from transformer to building were approved. This cost is in
addition to the loss of revenue (yet to be projected) for that day. Mr. Ralph Bohlman will be
obtaining quotes for the long-term repairs. The cost could go as high as $50k, per Mr.
Bohlman.
?

Bill Bilinsky, full-time maintenance, is out due to knee surgery. And John Lupica, full-time
maintenance, is out due to tonsil removal. Thus, creating a tight schedule for our maintenance
department.
?

Learn to Skate numbers are up, as reported by Mrs. Drenski.
?
Ordinance to increase fee structure reviewed
. Mrs. Hayes questioned fee structure on last
page for Clinics resident rate versus non-resident rate. It is the same, with no increase. Mr.
Morgan determined this is a typo. It will be corrected to reflect an increase from resident to
non-resident ($20-$80). Mr. Miller believes he can push through, especially in light of the
emergency repairs needed; theoretically before the end of the year, if it can be introduced at
the first meeting in December. He stated that the ordinance will need to be introduced to
Council. He can present it to Council and advise them of the ordinance to be brought
forward. However, it will need to be presented and have a number issued. Mrs. Sorge asked
that the term “emergency” be defined regarding passing of the ordinance. Mr. Limpert
explained that the ordinance would be required to be signed by the Mayor immediately and
not waiting the normal 30 days. Mr. Limpert asked if this ordinance allows for enough range
in rate structure. Mr. Morgan stated that the ordinance does allow for increases in rates over
the next couple of years. And the rates would be reviewed on a yearly basis from this point
on. Mr. Miller asked if the rates have been discussed with the major organizations (i.e.
Hockey Club) Mr. Morgan stated that only club to be directly affected at this time is the
Hockey Club, and they were amiable to the rate increase, as we are currently the lowest rink
rental in the area.
stnd
Motions were made to recommend to the ordinance to Council. 1 motion by Mr. Jenkins; 2
by Mrs. Hayes. Discussion ensued. Mr. Miller inquired why Mrs. Sorge had a hesitancy to
recommend? Mrs. Sorge responded that she needs time to realize what it is she is
recommending and learn her role as a Commission member. Plus, she wants to be sure the
rates are discussed with those clubs directly affected. Mr. Miller suggested Mr. Morgan
obtain some feedback from the users and groups. Vote was taken. Motion passed
unanimously.
?

Stain removed from the warming area ceiling in the rink. Vadakin came through on their
promise and completed this repair.
?

NOHC donated shelves and hooks for the locker rooms. NORC is supply labor and installing
them.
?

ADA doors and restroom renovations are out to bid.
?

Football Program surveys are back. The majority of them are favorable. They are available
for viewing if you wish.

?
Revenue reviewed.
The rink is down $27,000, largely due to NOHC paid their bill late (in
November rather than by October end). The pool is down $4448 due to Learn to Swim
Page 5
