2) Next is the issue of safety. Recently injuries have
occurred on the ice rink. Auxiliary Officers of the North
Olmsted Police Department expressed a need to modify
our current practice in handling injuries at the Recreation
Center, involving the Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

th
3) Interview dates after December 12 were discussed
regarding the hiring of the new Recreation
th
Commissioner; December 19 at 6:30 p.m. (in half
hour to 45 minute increments) was selected for the
Members to interview the most promising top four
candidates; the Personnel Director would go back
into the
“pile” of candidates with Mr. Jesse if none of the top
four candidates is chosen. Any comments or
suggestions and this point was opened to the
Members of the Commission. The question arose as
to the top qualifications being considered of the
candidates. Mr. Jesse responded that a) would be a
strong business/financial (prepare budgets) and
administrative ability background (show leadership);
b) would be people-orientation; i.e., dealing well with
the staff and the public (did send letters to a dozen or
so strong candidates in this area); and c) develop
programs and have a history of successful program
development.

Page 3
