<br />Recreation Commission Meeting <br />June 2002 <br /> <br />Preliminary reports prior to official meeting <br /> <br />North Olmsted Hockey Club Meeting Room Improvement Proposal <br />President Roger Gallipo <br />Vice President Edward Garrity <br /> <br />The North Olmsted Hockey Club has proposed to fund a $20,000 improvement to the Ice Rink <br />Meeting Room. The room would be doubled in size. A current storage area will be converted to <br />a class room for groups to utilize. The storage area would be enclosed with glass windows and <br />dry wall to create a classroom for hockey teams and other groups. The work will be <br />professionally done by members of the Hockey Club who are contractors or associated with the <br />trades. Preliminary design plans were provided to the Recreation Commission for review. <br /> <br />The North Olmsted Building Department will approve all plans before any construction begins. <br />The improvements will need to meet the appropriate building codes and standards. The Hockey <br />Club would have the first right to book the room but would not have exclusive rights the area. <br /> <br />Representatives from the North Olmsted Hockey Club suggested that we establish rental rates for <br />this room to increase revenue. Recreation Commissioner Todd Morgan recommended that the <br />room rental fees be established at the following rates: <br />$20.00 residents 1-3 hour time limits <br />$25.00 non-residents 1-3 hour time limits <br /> <br /> <br />North Olmsted Soccer Organization Annual Report <br />Peter Mekes <br /> <br />Mr. Mekes gave a presentation to inform the Recreation Commission about the goals and <br />objectives of the club, its operations and an overview of their organizations future needs. <br /> <br />The North Olmsted Soccer Organization was founded over 25 years ago and utilizes Barton <br />Bradley Park with its seven athletic fields to operate a comprehensive city wide soccer program. <br />The Club has over 900 members and has programs for all skill levels and age groups. Fees went <br />up $5.00 this past season for the first time in seven years. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />In House Soccer Program 400 + players $30 Individual fee <br />? <br /> <br />Travel Soccer Program 300 + Players $75 Individual fee <br />? <br /> <br />Excaliber (Elite) Soccer Program 100 + Players Fee Varies <br /> <br />NOSO is operated by an administrative Board of Directors comprised of volunteer parents. The <br />Club lines the fields, installs nets, provides goal frames, re-seeds and fertilizes the athletic fields <br />at Barton Bradley Park. The group of NOSO officials are all dedicated hard working civic <br />minded individuals who donate their time to serve the children of North Olmsted <br /> <br />
