R: Todd noted that the only programs that typically operate at a loss are the Special
Recreation Program and Central Playground, largely due to the wage and staffing
situation. All other programs either break even or profit slightly.
Q: Cheryl asked if there is a set range for resident vs. non-resident rates.
A: Todd said no, the variance has just evolved over the years.
Q: Linda asked Jason if we currently have a way of tracking resident vs. non-resident
program participants.
A: Jason stated that program evaluations and registration invoices are currently utilized to
help track these numbers.
Q: Randi inquired if we should increase the program for this year.
Q: Michael asked when the last increase was.
A: Jason stated the last increase was last year; we went from $65 to $75.
ndrd
Q: Michael wondered if with the increase, do we look at offering discounts for 2, 3, etc.,
child in order to stay competitive, yet not loose faithful patrons.
A: Todd suggested we consider revamping the program for 2003.

This marked the end of Jason’s program report.

FEE REVIEW / INCREASE DISCUSSION
?

Recreation Programs
Fees were increased by 5% Resident and 10% Non-Resident; with the exceptions of Special
Recreation which will remain the same, Central Playground which will increase by $5
Residents and $10 Non-Residents, and Tackle Football Fee which will increase by $5 for both
Residents and Non-Residents (the Tackle Football Equipment Rental Fee and Jersey Fee will
not increase)
*Randi made a motion to increase Recreation Program fees, with exceptions noted; seconded
by Axel. All were in favor; motion passed.
?

Pool Programs
The sub-committee proposed that the Rec Commission accept the fees as proposed by Sandra
Andrews, the Pool Supervisor (as per program fees spreadsheet presented to Commission).
Sandra based her increases on other community fees and what the charter allows.
*Axel made a motion to maintain the Senior Pool fees as status quo; seconded by Randi.
All in favor; motion passed.
*Axel made a motion to increase Pool Group Rental fees 5% Resident, 10% Non-Resident;
seconded by Bill. All in favor; motion passed.
*Randi made a motion to approve Pool Program fees as proposed by the Pool Supervisor,
with the exceptions noted to Senior Pool fees and Pool Group Rental fees; seconded by Bill.
All in favor; motion passed.
?

Rink Programs
It was highly suggested by Betsy Drenski, Rink Supervisor, not to increase the Rink Program
rates, as she had increased her rates significantly last year. Todd concurred with this
suggestion. Betsy also noted a correction of the Learn to Skate prices listed on the
spreadsheet presented – 6 week program $39.00 Resident, $49.00 Non-Resident.
*Bill made a motion to accept the Rink Program fees as they currently stand, with the
correction noted; seconded by Randi. All in favor; motion passes.
Page 3
