Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 2, 2008

Olmsted would be doing as much as it could to make sure the facility would be used as much as
possible. There is nothing in North Ridgeville, nothing in Olmsted Falls, nothing in Olmsted
Township. Berea has something that is actually very limited. There is a market here that North
Olmsted to tap into. Mr. Groden said that even the possibility of different things that aren’t
necessarily recreationally based, such as corporate meetings, etc., is what he is envisioning to bring in
rental. Mr. Dailey said that he’s been to Middleburg Heights with great meeting rooms in it – he’s
been there for business meetings before. There is great kitchen space as well. It would be his
recommendation that rooms of that type be included in the North Olmsted facility.

Mr. DiSalvo said that you must generate prime time operational hours for recreation, but what is being
said is a good idea, only in off-peak hours.

Ms. Nader said who would market for business meetings, etc. to promote the rooms in the facility.
Mr. Dailey said this is a good question. Mr. DiSalvo said that if that ever got set up, he would do it:
he’s done it before.

Mr. Dailey said that catering in North Olmsted is being done by Springvale: probably the best way to
handle it at the Rec Center would be to have people bring in their own catering in an available room.
Long-term, it’s a much better way to go. Mr. DiSalvo wondered if this would affect Springvale in any
way. Mr. Dailey said that Springvale is a different type of market, and shouldn’t adversely affect the
Rec Center.

Mr. Groden said that when the Deerfield Park Civic Association tries to rent the Cabin, it’s too late
because it’s already booked, it would be nice to have a room at the Rec Center. Mr. Dailey said that
yes, he understood, he’s been at many meetings at the Middleburg Heights Rec Center. He doesn’t
know if they have a liquor license there; Strongsville does. Mr. Garrity said Middleburg Heights might
allow beer and wine. There are a lot of things to tap into, Mr. Dailey said, once the City gets the
funding in place, decides what type of facility it will be, how big it will be, the type of amenities, and
how it’s going to play out in the marketplaces.

Mr. Groden asked if there was anything else for Mr. Dailey.

Mr. Dailey said as soon as there are numbers for the Rec Commission, he will get it to the members.

Ms. Nader asked if it was to be a phased project: Phase A, Phase B, etc.? Mr. Dailey said it would be
a possibility, but it’s up to the voters. It’s tough to go back to the voters, especially after the School
Levy passed, and expect them to keep on giving more. It would be his anticipation that it would be a
one-time type thing for recreation.

Mr. DiSalvo said that he wanted to initiate Parks improvements. Mr. Dailey said that the Parks would
be done after the Rec Center, in all likelihood, going by the income stream beginning in 2009, but we
will pay management, architectural fees, and breaking ground, we will need that money to pay
Page 11
