NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MARCH 3, 2003 Meeting called to order: 7:00 p.m. In Attendance: Claire Hayes, President Norm Baxter, Member Randi Jones, Member Anna Kanis Member Bill Kelley, Member Ted DiSalvo, Commissioner Chris Wetmore, Program Supervisor Absent: Michael Gareau, Jr., Councilman Richard Jesse, Safety Director Visitors: Duane Limpert, Councilman Paul Miller, Councilman (for Mr. Gareau) OFFICIAL MINUTES Meeting called to order and roll-call taken. Mr. Wetmore was introduced as the new Program Supervisor in the Parks and Recreation Department to the members of the Commission. A motion to approve the minutes from January and February was made and seconded. Roll-call was taken; all were in favor; with final correction changing Ms. Hayes to Mr. Jesse in the January minutes, page 10, third paragraph. The motion passed, minutes to be amended. No corrections were necessary for the February minutes. REPORT BY COMMISSIONER Mr. DiSalvo began by saying he had a lot to report. He has kept up with the timeline guide he set for himself since beginning as Commissioner. The main goal was accomplished in the hiring of Chris Wetmore, Program Supervisor, whose orientation will take about two weeks. He will be assisted by Betsy Drenski administratively and the Commissioner as well with regard to the programs. Mr. Wetmore’s main responsibilities will be softball, baseball, soccer, football, and, in the winter, boys and girls basketball leagues. Anything to do with the Parks, i.e., central playground, all park activities, as well as a few in-house programs such as karate, Irish Step Dancing, and a few more, will be Chris’s responsibilities. However, most will be in the Parks area. About 75% of what is needed for his programming in the Spring/Summer brochure are set. The rest of the programs need follow-up.
