Recreation Commission Meeting
October 6, 2003

catch people who will figure a way to beat it anyway? Changing the lock might be a place to
start. Mr. Jesse said that the Rec couldn't give an idea of volume to an outside source anyway.
This is a very large issue. Mr. Kelley stated that there is a program being put into place for all of
the CYO in the Cleveland Catholic Diocese to run a background check on employees throughout
all of Lorain and Cuyahoga County, paid for by each individual church. This includes all coaches,
assistants and employees. Mr. Jesse said that is a problem the City is thinking of right now.
These are very real concerns.

NOSO, NOSA, Hockey Club

Mr. DiSalvo asked for feedback on NOSO, NOSA, and Hockey Club arrangements to invite these
organizations to the Rec for contract negotiations. Mr. Baxter said that Mr. DiSalvo should talk
with these organizations first so that they know exactly what the Rec is looking for. Mr.
DiSalvo ended by saying the Hockey Club wants to move their equipment from the lockers in the
maintenance area. Mr. Kelley said that if this would work for Mr. DiSalvo, to go ahead. As far
as renovation of the upstairs room, Mr. DiSalvo said that there would be more information
available to the Commission from the Hockey Club by next meeting..

OLD BUSINESS

Vending Arcade Games

Mr. Jesse reported that the games are ready to go out to bid.

Basketball Courts

Mr. DiSalvo said that Wednesday of this week is the last day for the bids to come in, and that the
Rec Department will probably go with the one company that has come forward.

Pool Bleachers

th
Pool bleachers should be installed by December 15.

Ted's Doorway

The doorway that will connect the office building to the rink is waiting on fire inspection and
approval.
Page 11
