SPECIAL EVENT UPDATE CONT.:

patrons that come here. The SeniorOpen house will be a nice day for us to be available to
talk to the people about what we have to offer. If anyone knows of any other groups that
would benefit from our services please let me know.

PROGRAM UPDATES:

Ms. Drenski reviewed that we have 220 children for our Summer Camp, and because school
starts a week later than the normal we added another week of camp at an additional fee. The
baseball program had high participation, learn to skate camp is going well, and our fall football
program started today. A change has been made so that all of our programs will run the same
six-week time frame so that we are consistent. There has been a discussion of an after school
program for children in the middle school, and with the Horizon program ending it seemed like
good timing. The activities would include games on the tennis courts, skating, swimming,
fitness, and homework time. We inquired about getting a bus to take the children from the
middle school to the recreation center and were told it would not be a problem. This will be
offered as a six-week program. Another program under consideration in partnership with
Horizon’s is a grant for outside of school time events. Five events will be offered to children
in the community, with our participation in fitness and the arts. We would receive money
to put on these events and we will also partner with other city entities to meet the requirements.
Mr. Wetmore stated that there is a special needs adult group called SOAR that participates in
activities on the west side, so we are going to take part and offer a tennis court for activities.

REVENUE/EXPENSE:

Ms. Drenski stated the revenue numbers look good overall, a couple of areas are down a little
but we are waiting on some invoices to be paid. Do to the school closings we needed to add
some more programs in-house therefore we had to cut some programming in tennis so that
we could offer volleyball on the courts as well as batting cage time. We had to greatly decrease
the amount of private tennis instruction, however, we offered all of the permanent court time
participants from last year to come back and all but two returned. This restructuring allows
us lot more opportunities to offer new programming. This is the reason there has been a decrease
in the tennis revenue and an increase the adult and youth revenue. We have had a lot of expenses
this year but are keeping an eye on it and we should be fine. Mr. Wetmore added that they would
like to thank Community Council for donating two doggie changing stations for North Olmsted Park,
and we have purchased two sets of permanent outdoor cement corn-hole boards for the park that
will be installed by the horseshoe pits. Also, the soccer organization has offered to replace the
bulletin board at Barton and Bradly park that will include new specifications. The commission
unanimously passed a motion for approval of the new bulletin board drawings that will be presented
to council.
