OLMSTE® <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission <br />held on February 11, 1982. <br />Present were Commissioners � r Alexander and Walter Spalding and Secretary <br />Judy Wise. EEOC wanted corrective measures taken to eliminate this restriction. A <br />new advertisement was placed in which no maximum age was stated. A lenghty <br />discussion then followed concerning the commission rule that no person shall e <br />appointed to the position of police officer on or after this thirty first <br />birthd,ay;. The ORC states a maximum age of thirty five for original appointment <br />I•n light of the mandatory retirement requirements for police officers and <br />information presented on the life expectancy of police officers as well as the <br />conviction that the patrol person on the street should be reasonalby young, the <br />Commission considered a change in the Rules and Regulations to be in compliance <br />with the Ohio Revised Code section 124.41. Motion by Walter Spalding, seconded <br />by Roger Alexander:; that Rule V, Section 1 be -amended to read: "No person <br />is eligible to receive an original appointment when he is thirty-five years of <br />age or older, and no person can be declared disqualigied as over age prior to <br />that -time." <br />Passed. <br />
