CITY OF NORTH OLMSTE®
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
MINUTES
December 15, 1983
The meeting of the N.O. Civil Service Meeting was called to
order at 7:35 P.M.. In attendance were the following:
Roger Alwxander- Chairman
Phillip Huffman- C.Lnmjssioner
Patricia Bahas- Secretary
William Peinert- Superintendant
Robert Storch- Assistant Superintendant
Correspondence
No report at this time..
Financial Report
No report at this time: will be submitted before the end of the
year.
Old Business
Job Descriptions
Chairman Alexander discussed the problem of the custo-
dial -cleaner job descriptions which were, in the present form
of the job description, too similar to be classified as different
jobs with different pay scales. Mr. Storch explained the history
behind the two positions and expanded upon the tasks listed in the
descriptions. Mr. Peinert assured Mr.. Alexander and the Commission
that he was aware of the problem and had notified the proper
personnel of the appropriate procedures for the review, up -date,
and revision of the classified job descriptions. He informed
the Commission that if the job descriptions were to be done
properly, it would be impossible to complete the task by Dec.
31, 1983, but promised that task would receive top priority and
would be completed within a reasonable time.
Custodial Examination
The Commission was informed that because the Sr. High
Head Custodian was a promotional position open to only those
certified for the position immediately below it, the test
would not be open to the provisionally appointed employee,
unless given after his employment of six month in February. He
also informed the Commission that one of the .employees in the
position immediately below the promotional position had been
provisionally appointed but never certified as Hd. Elem. or Hd.
Secondary night custodian; therefore, there was a question of
his eligibility to take the promotional test. Following an
involved discussion, the Commission directed Mrs. Bahas to
schedule a certification test covering the positions of Head RA
Elementary and Head SecondaryNight Custodian andSr. High,A's'todian.
Mrs. Bahas was instructed to schedule this test prior to the
promotional test for Head Sr. High Custodian.
