CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />E+t <br />'JU <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />MINUTES <br />March 27, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service was called <br />to order at 7:40 P.M. by chairman Phillip Huffman. In attendance <br />were Commissioner Paul Gareau, Commissioner Dean McKay, Secretary <br />Patricia Bahas, Fire Chief Van Kuren, and Building Director Gundy. <br />Approval of Minutes <br />The minutes of the January 24, 1984th meeting and the special meet- <br />ing of March 13, 1984 were approved in accordance with the secretary's <br />comments. <br />See attached sheet. <br />See attached sheet. <br />Correspondence <br />Finance Report <br />Old Business <br />Job Description -Bldg. C,L_�plaint Inspector <br />Mrs. Bahas reviewed the background circumstances leading to the cre- <br />ation of the new position. She explained to the Commissioners that <br />during her first conversation with Safety Director Gene Petre, Mr. <br />Petre informed her that a Thomas Restifo was hired to handle the <br />backlog of work that had formed when the department had been unable <br />to fill the part=time positions of two Building Inspectors. Mr. Restifo <br />was hired on a fultime basis . Mr. Gundy then wrote the Commission <br />of Mr. Restifo;s e�m_loyment as a provisional appointment as Building <br />Inspector and requested a civil service test for same. In discussing <br />the qualifications for the announcement,. Mrs. Bahas pointed out that <br />Mr. Petre should make sure that the job description was reflective of <br />the position and that the position required construction experience <br />and knowledge. A job description for a new position entitled as <br />"Building Complaint Inspector was then submitted for -the Commis:sion's <br />classification was then submitted. Mr.. Gundy could not stay for the full <br />length of the meeting, but did answer some of the Commission's ques- <br />tions regarding the necessary qualifications. After Mr. Gundy�'s <br />departure, it was felt by the Commissioners that the position still <br />required construction experience/knowledge, but that the new position <br />could not be considered by the Commission until Council members had <br />passed an ordinance recognizing and funding the position.
