CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED E+t 'JU CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO MINUTES March 27, 1984 The regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service was called to order at 7:40 P.M. by chairman Phillip Huffman. In attendance were Commissioner Paul Gareau, Commissioner Dean McKay, Secretary Patricia Bahas, Fire Chief Van Kuren, and Building Director Gundy. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the January 24, 1984th meeting and the special meet- ing of March 13, 1984 were approved in accordance with the secretary's comments. See attached sheet. See attached sheet. Correspondence Finance Report Old Business Job Description -Bldg. C,L_�plaint Inspector Mrs. Bahas reviewed the background circumstances leading to the cre- ation of the new position. She explained to the Commissioners that during her first conversation with Safety Director Gene Petre, Mr. Petre informed her that a Thomas Restifo was hired to handle the backlog of work that had formed when the department had been unable to fill the part=time positions of two Building Inspectors. Mr. Restifo was hired on a fultime basis . Mr. Gundy then wrote the Commission of Mr. Restifo;s e�m_loyment as a provisional appointment as Building Inspector and requested a civil service test for same. In discussing the qualifications for the announcement,. Mrs. Bahas pointed out that Mr. Petre should make sure that the job description was reflective of the position and that the position required construction experience and knowledge. A job description for a new position entitled as "Building Complaint Inspector was then submitted for -the Commis:sion's classification was then submitted. Mr.. Gundy could not stay for the full length of the meeting, but did answer some of the Commission's ques- tions regarding the necessary qualifications. After Mr. Gundy�'s departure, it was felt by the Commissioners that the position still required construction experience/knowledge, but that the new position could not be considered by the Commission until Council members had passed an ordinance recognizing and funding the position.
