.r CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
axr
MINUTES - FEBRUARY 28, 1985
ROLL CALL:
The regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission was called to order
at 7:31 p.m. by Chairman Philip Huffman. In attendance were Dean McKay, Robert Angle,
Randall Angle, Captain T. Mars , Detective Mason, Michael Gareau, Gene Petre and
Sandi Westerfeld.
This meeting began at 7:30 p.m. due to the request of. Randall Angle to appear before
the Commission regarding his removal from the Patrolman certified eligibility list.
Notes of this hearing will be maintained with the Secretary's.minutes, the Mayor's
minutes and that of law Director, Michael Gareau.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Patrolman Physical Agility - Secretary Westerfeld reported that Candidate Walter
Novak, who was not informed of the physical agility
examination after the written exam by mistake, had
passed the physical examination given on February 5, which qualifies him to remain
on the list.
Patrolman Psychological Exam - Secretary Westerfeld advised the Commission that the
results of the phychological exam were in and that
upon interview of each candidate, the report would
be given to the appointing authority.
Clerk/Typist Exam - One candidate sent application beyond deadline date and Secretary.
Westerfeld requested that this candidate be rejected. All in
favor of request and candidate was rejected.
Police Chief Exam - Since a new job description was sent to McCanns, the Commission
had to approve the examination material. The Commission Members
went over the proposed material and all were in favor.
Approval of Requisitions - Secretary Westerfeld asked that Chairman Huffman approve
all requisitions being submitted, which he did.
Board of Education Froposal - Although a decision regarding this matter was promised
for this meeting, Commission Member Dean McKay felt that
an opinion from the Law Director was necessary regarding
the legality of the proposed changes and also to ascertain whether the Commission has
authority to determine and/or change classification. Secretary Westerfeld was directed
to contact Law Director Michael Gareau regarding this matter.
Firefighter Candidate Removal - Due to Mr. Novak's failure:,of the visual physical exam,
the Commission instructed Secretary Westerfeld to
communicate to Mr. Walter Novak that he was.being
removed from the el gibility list, and to also remove and notify Charles Ingrassia for
the same reason.
