CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION. <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING <br />April 9, 1985 <br />ROLL CALL: <br />The special meeting .of: the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission was called to order <br />at 7:36 p.m. by Chaitmn Philip Huffman. In attendance were DeanMCr Kay, Sandi <br />Westerfeld, Lt. Dennis Sefcek� wormer Chief Marion Taylor and Safety Director, Gene <br />Petre. Also in attendance, for a time, Mayor Swietyniowski. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Police Candidate Jeffrey Medves - It was reported to the Commission, for their <br />information, by Lt. Dennis Sefcek that Candidate <br />Jeffrey Medves had -had corrective eye surgery. He <br />wasn't sure of the type:of surgery but Dr. Huffman thought it .might be the new laser <br />surgery. Lt. Sefcek reported, at Captain Marsh's request, that Mr. Medves had been <br />requested to see an -eye specialist regarding this surgery to ascertain the possible <br />affects of this surgery, in time to come. Secretary Westerfeld reported that Mr. <br />Medves had contacted her earlier this date to ask whether or not this surgery could <br />be cause for his removal. from the eligibility list. The Commission felt that they <br />would reserve any judgment at this time since no problem existed presently. Secretary <br />Westerfeld stated that she informed Mr. Medves to go ahead and have the appointment <br />with the recommended doctor. Dr. Huffman stated that what he knew of the surgey was <br />that, to his understanding, the crucial time was the healing process and that if Mr. <br />Medves is found to have 20/20 vision after the healing process, he would probably be <br />perfectly fine. <br />Chief, Lieutenant and Sergeant Promotional Results - After some discussion it was <br />determined by the Commission that <br />the passing grade for all three <br />examinations would be 75:'. At this point all <br />Sergeant, then Lieutenant and finally Chief. <br />ten day review period) are attached. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />envelopes were opened, starting with <br />Copies of tentative results (prior to <br />Proposal of James. Kline, School Personnnel - Secretary Westerfeld submitted for <br />approval letters written to Mr. Kline <br />regarding proposed changes in job <br />descriptions, etc,. previously submitted by Mr. Kline. Letters approved by Commission. <br />There being no farther business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. <br />
