v CITY OF NORTH OLASTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO MINUTES - JUNE 279 1985 ROLL CALL: The regular meeting of the North Olmsted Civil Service Commission was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Chairman Philip Huffman. In attendance were D!F_MKay and Sandi Westerfeld. MINUTES: The minutes of the May 13 special meeting and May 30 regular meeting were approved as written. OLD BUSINESS: A passing score of 56 was set for the Board of Education Secretary II exam and the envelopes were then opened. A copy of the list of passing candidates is attached hereto. NEW BUSINESS: Request received from Jim Kline of Board of Education to lengthen probationary period from six months to one year for entry level certified employees. Commission granted extension to one year. Also,.inquiry as to whether or not a part-time employee must be appointed from certified list. Answer to this is yes, and Secretary Westerfeld was instructed to inform Mr. Kline by letter regarding above. Jack Frolo - Bus Line Employee - Mr. Frolo sent letter requesting information regarding funds received by North Olmsted from RTA and questions as to why North Olmsted Bus Line employees, when hired back after lay-off of more than one year., are not given same benefits as RTA employees. Upon investigation Mr. McKay found that we are not subsidized by RTA. The monies received are from taxes all citizens pay to subsidize RTA and since we have our own bus line and do not use RTA, that tax money is returned to North Olmsted. Also, since we own and operate our own line, we are not obligated to follow the rules and regulations of RTA. City Council sets the rules and regulations of the bus line and Secretary_Westerfeld was instructed to inform Mr. Frolo by letter of the above findings arid -that if he had further questions, to address them to City Council since they oversee the bus line. Duties of Service & Weed Control Employee - Secretary Westerfeld was instructed to inquire as to the duties of the Service & Weed Control employee hired by the Service Department and if she is, in fact, performing civil service clerical duties.
