CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING
October 3, 1985
ROLL CALL:
The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was brought to order by Chairman
Philip Huffman at 8:05 p.m. In attendance were Commission Member Dean McKay, Secretary
Sandi Westerfeld and Gerry Couts, Parks and Recreation Director.
MINUTES:
Reading of the minutes was waived at this point so that discussion with Gerry Couts
could commence.
RECREATION COMPLEX:
The question as to the civil service status of employees at the Recreation Complex was
addressed. After a short discussion, it was decided that Mr. Couts would furnish the
Commission with a job description for everyone employed at the Complex and the Commis-
sion would then review every job individually. More discussion followed as to the
question of civil service status and it was stated that there is no listing available
containing complete information regarding civil service status. It was decided by the
Commission to request a one page job description from everyone employed by the City in
order to have a complete listing, including whether or not those positions that are
civil service are testable. Secretary Westerfeld was directed to contact the State
regarding what constitutes full and part time hours. Consequently, the decision regard-
ing the Recreation Complex employees will be shelved at present and handled when the
rest of the information is received.
MINUTES!:
At this point, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
ENGINEERING INSPECTOR:
Regarding civil service status of this position, Secretary Westerfeld was directed to
check the minutes regarding any information there might be concerning testing for this
position. Also to obtain a job description for this position. It was stated that the
Engineering Inspector should be on the Civil Service payroll list. We will check
further on this matter.
ASSISTANT FINANCE DIRECTOR:
Mr. McKay contacted Mr. Boyle regarding this position. It was decided that this
question would be answered along with the rest of the questions regarding civil service
status upon receipt of all the required information.
