0 <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />CIVIL SERVICE MEETING - JANUARY 26, 1939 - 4:30 P.M. TOWN HALL <br />Present: Commissioners; 'Madeline Brookshire and Robert Wendt. <br />Absent: Commissioner Thomas "Stroh. <br />Guests: Ohio Fire Chiefs Association representative Asst. <br />Fire Chief William Lee; Personnel 'election Services represen- <br />tative I2r. Paul Mahalko. <br />Fire Chief Van Kuren, Capt. Robert Krynak representing Police <br />Chief Marsh <br />The regular business of this meeting was set aside to hear the <br />presentations of Asst. Fire Chief Lee and Mr. Mahalko who summarized the <br />various entry level and promotional tests their companies had to offer. <br />These are local companies and it was the feeling of the commission to <br />investigate what each had to offer. After much discussion both <br />gentlemen left printed materials for the commission to review and at <br />this time the commission assured them a decision would be made and a <br />communication would be forwarded to them re that decision. <br />Coat. Krynak appearing on behalf of Chief Yarsh requested the commission <br />sit up a date and time far the promotional test for Police Lieutentant. <br />Captain stated that four sargeants were qualified to take this test and <br />the promotion occurred due to attrition in the department. The <br />commissioners assured the department that necessary paperwork would be <br />instituted immediately and the date and time of the test would be <br />i'orwar.ded to the police chief within the next day or two. <br />Regular business meeting: <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />A discussion with Fire Chief Van Kuren ensued .surrounding the verbage of <br />the classified ad covering the test for firefighters/paramedics. It was <br />felt that the format used in the rcent police officer entry level <br />examir_atiop_, especially the return of the acknowledgement of the vision <br />requirement, would be utilized for this process. The secretary to the <br />commission and the Chief will be meeting to go over the wording of the . <br />ad, before insertion in newspapers, as soon -as can be arranged. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />The commission felt a decision should be made at this meeting re the <br />possibility of seeking another testing company and therefore the <br />material left by the companies represented here this afternoon was <br />discussed in depth. It was the consensus of the commissioners that we <br />continued to seek entry level tests from McCann Associates in <br />Pennsylvania. Therefore, commissioners requested secretary to <br />communicate with both of these companies re this decision. <br />REifA RKS <br />Dates discussed for the administering of the promotional test for the <br />
