CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO CIVIL SERVICE MEETING: January 25, 1991 PRESENT: Chairman Robert Wendt, Commissioner Henry Robinson, Secretary Tracy Ice GUESTS: Safety Director Ernest Gundy, Fire Chief VanKuren, Asst. Fire Chief Roger Osterhouse, Personnel & Administrative Services - Ron Wilamosky MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED AS READ. OLD BUSINESS The Civil Service Commission should be getting the night line installed in their office sometime in February. We have 6 different Testing Companies planning on attending our meeting on February 14, 1991. This meeting will be held at 7:00 pm in North Olmsted's Council Chambers. At this time, we have 7 surrounding cities who are planning to attend this meeting. On January 10, 1991 and January 12, 1991 the written and oral e<"ams. were given for Fire Chief. We used the Ohio Fire Chief's Organization to give the exam. Everyone at our meeting felt the exams. went well and the turnaround time of getting the scores back was great. There was some discussion regarding the oral exam. Two candidates felt that they knew of the testor(s) and felt that instead of using Fire Chief's in our surrounding area that when testing for the position of Chief testors should be further out like Akron or Dayton. Two of the candidates also felt that there were too many true/false questions on the test for the position of Chief. Bob Wendt will speak to Chief Lee of the.Ohio Fire Chief's Organization with regard to the above and Secretary Tracy Ice will send Chief Lee a letter regarding the same. Roger Osterhouse scored the highest on this exam. and will be our new Fire Chief starting February 1, 1991. Congratulations Chief Osterhouse! The Entrance Level Firefighter/Paramedic Exam. is scheduled for March 12, 1991 at 7:00 pm at the North Olmsted Community Cabin. Since the North Olmsted High School is not available for the Physical Agility Test, Bob Wendt will check and let Tracy Ice know if the Civil Service Commission can use the North Olmsted Middle School for the Physical Agility Test. The Civil Service Commission is also looking into trying to see if we have a good stuffed dummy to use for the Agility Test. If we can not locate one we may have to purchase a new one.
