CIVIL SERVICE <br />JULY 23, 1992 <br />PAGE 2 <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />The Civil Service Union - Non -Union coverage is now complete. At our <br />last meeting certain Department Heads were sent letters to verify when <br />certain employees where hired and if they had union coverage. All <br />those employees who had been in question, has union coverage and <br />therefore is not entitled to Civil Service Coverage as well. <br />The Commission decided that a hearing test to all new Police and Fire <br />candidates should be given along with their physical examination. <br />Letters to the Mayor, Chief Sefcek, Chief Osterhouse and Mr. Gundy <br />were sent this decision on July 28, 1992. <br />The Randy Angle situation. Randy Angle was removed from the <br />Correction Officer's Certified List. At our May meeting, Randy and <br />his father came and spoke on why Randy should be put back onto the <br />list. The Commission, at our July meeting, said that the situation <br />should stand as is and that Randy Angle should not be put back onto <br />the certified list. Per the Commission's request, Tracy Ice will call <br />Mike Gareau and have him put a letter together for Randy Angle. <br />The Commission also decided that since Marella Varanese is not <br />protected by the Union, that Marella is therefore entitled to have <br />Civil Service Protection. Letters were sent to the Mayor, Mr. Gundy, <br />Chief Osterhouse, Marella Varanese, M. Gareau and R. Wilamosky of this <br />decision on July 28, 1992. <br />At this time the Commission decided not to start the wheels rolling on <br />any Secretarial / Clerical test. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Commissioner Al Kovelan resigned from the Civil Service Commission in <br />his letter to the Mayor on June 10, 1992. The Mayor assigned Glenn <br />Marks to fulfill Al's terms. At this time Glenn has not been sworn <br />in. <br />The Civil Service Commission received 2 more four drawer filing <br />cabinets. Thank you Sandy Purper for all your help in getting the <br />Civil Service Commission new cabinets. <br />
