CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
MAY 15, 1995
PAGE 2
NEW BUSINESS
Another secretarial candidate has been hard to reach. The Safety
Department has tired to reach her by phone and at work but they have
had no luck. Jim Hines asked that Tracy Ice mail this person a letter
and if she does not respond back then.her name will be removed from
the list.
Carolyn Kasler requested the top three names from the secretarial list
be sent to her in Feb. At that time, Jackie Smith'.s name was not on
the list but the lists that followed Jackie's name was put back on the
list.
Tracy Ice cleared up the confusion by saying that it wasn't Lentil the
March meeting that Jackie came to our meeting. At that time, the
Commission asked Tracy to put Jackie's name back on the list to be
considered for the next vacancy. She was then considered for the next
vacancy and she was tested on April 14th and failed the typing test.
The Commission then at the May 15th meeting removed her name from our
eligibility list and a letter will be sent to Jackie stating the same
and a copy to Carolyn. Candidates are not removed from the
eligibility list until after the commission removes them and that
usually always happens at our monthly meetings.
Carolyn Kasler wanted to know when the Firefighter's list expires,
Tracy Ice said June 1, 1995. Carolyn said that the Fire Department
had a retirement and they may want to do a replacement for the
retirement which depends on the budget situation.
Jim Hines asked Ron Wilamosky what he knew about the part-time Civil
Service Secretary job situation. Ron stated that this job is an
hourly job and not a salary job. Therefore,.the secretary will have
to sign in and out each day and have a letter from the commission
stating when and how much time was spent when working off site.
The Mayor hopes to have a replacement for Glenn Marks soon.
Jay Power from the'Fire Department mentioned that if a firefighter has
state certification which is a 240 hour program, before becoming a
firefighter could this person get extra credit, once he/she passed the
test? Jay also said that this would save the city 5 weeks of training
time and money. Jim Hines said that this is something that we need to
look into and that we could do.
