CIVIL SERVICE <br />JUNE 19, 1995 <br />PAGE 2 <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />Carolyn said that for the record that in her opinion, the Mayor, Civil <br />Service Commission, Police Department and the residence of N. Olmsted <br />--- that this City could not find themselves in a better position <br />before reading those names. Both candidates are very qualified and <br />good people. <br />The new Police Chief is Frank Viola.. Congratulations Chief! <br />There was only a 3.4 point difference between Frank Viola and George <br />Ruple this was out of a total of 210 points. What an outstanding job <br />by both candidates. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />The next test which will be given will be for'Captain and Lieutenant. <br />This test will be given by 0 A C P and will be an assessment test. <br />Hopefully, by the same people who gave the Chief's assessment. <br />This test will be given on July 29, 1995 at 7:30 am. The candidates <br />our to meet at the Police Department in the Conference Room. <br />The Sergeant's exam. will consist of a written test from Clancy & <br />Associates and then the top 8 candidates will move on to take the <br />assessment test from O A C -P. Tracy will contact Clancy & Associates <br />and will get a reading list. The reading list went out on June 22, <br />1995. There is a 30 day study period from that date. The test will <br />be administered on July 31, 1995 at the Cabin at 7:00 pm. Clancy & <br />Associates will administer the test. <br />Jim Hines asked Frank Viola to check with Dennis Sefcek and discuss <br />what percentage they feel would be the best for the Sergeant's exam. <br />This Sergeant's test will be weighted at 70% for the written and 30% <br />for the assessment. <br />Tracy Ice sent out a Letter of Intent to all eligible candidates for <br />the Captain, Lieutenant and Sergeant's vacancies. Tracy is hoping to <br />have all the letters back by June 23, 1995. <br />Shirley McCowan has been hired off the the civil service list and is <br />working in the Building Department as a secretary. <br />Civil Service was sent a letter from Greg Birney stating that since <br />the school levy did not pass that we will not be able to use the <br />school for administering tests. If the levy passes in Aug., then this <br />situation may change. <br />
